There's no good title for what i do... simply put, i'm building a website for a client.
sweet. i wanna redo my website with cms cuz im lazy and hate updating it all the time. plus its easier to make them look nicer. but my hosting is windows based and i cant seem to find one that my hosting service supports. so i think im just going to download my entire content (its only like 3 gigs) and switch to linux.
Scapegoat
11-09-2008, 02:43 PM
good plan, windows servers suck balls. Check out the cms Drupal, its as awesome as going balls deep
yeah i was debating between drupal and wordpress. im going to have a friend of mine d/l my content for me. he has fiber going straight to his building with no connections along the way. he can download everything in like 10/15 minutes. mine would take quite a bit longer. and the upload time is stupid long so it will be easier for him to just upload it all once i switch servers.
Scapegoat
11-09-2008, 02:54 PM
wordpress isn't a true cms, though i don't have much experience with it. From my understanding it is simply a blog management system.
Drupal is a full fledged, powerful, cms tool.
**** blogging. lol. what am i gonna do try and write something people want to read? im not that narcissistic. lol. i just want a place to host photos for clients, future clients to see as a portfolio, and for myself. i also have a secondary site for my car to promote my sponsors and shows and stuff. so i'll look closer at drupal.
Scapegoat
11-09-2008, 03:02 PM
drupal sounds like a better fit. But its not a simple plug and play. Modules need to be installed and set up. The one problem w/ drupal is its ability to fit into just about any requirement... so it does need to be set up by someone. Joomla is another cms tool that is a bit more straightforward to use, i don't like it nearly as much as drupal though.
so not something i could figure out on my own eh? i'm usually ok with this kinda stuff but if its really confusing i'll just get pissed an frustrated.
Scapegoat
11-09-2008, 03:10 PM
joomla may be a better option then... Drupal requires a certain bit of experience with it as out of the box it doesn't support a whole lot... but has a ton of modules that are downloadable for it... but you need to know which ones to use.
I'd recommend Joomla if you want to be able to get in and play around with the basic software and be able to use it.
Or you can pay me $45/hr to set up Drupal :)

ASIAN JUL
11-09-2008, 06:30 PM
well. started with bladder cancer. they removed her bladder. it metastasized to her intestines and stomach, which isn't uncommon because those organs are so close in proximity - it's been getting progressively worse because she is refusing chemo/radi and instead is just there for pain management. which apparently isn't doing much. well, this past week they find out it also metastasized to her brain. so, her decline is coming a little more rapidly than first expected.

she's technically my great aunt. and she already had breast cancer a few years back - went through the whole chemo thing and was miserable. and since she's like 70 something she's pretty much just giving up. and it's sad. she's really close with my mom - some days she knows who my mom is when she calls, other days she doesn't have a clue who my mom is. my mom's flying out there next sunday to see her. we're just hoping she makes it that long.

they apparently are giving her something - i'm not positive of what. i assume though, they have to tread lightly because of how advanced the cancer is and they can all have side effects. but i imagine they have her on some kind of corticosteroid for her brain tumor to reduce swelling, an opiod like morphine or methadone for overall pain. but, i mean there's only so much morphine drip you can give without stopping her heart. i just feel so terrible that she's going downhill so fast.

nice.. was it the one that won 2nd or 3rd? and what category?
Scapegoat
11-09-2008, 08:11 PM
It won third place in the spiced/herb/vegetable category
I was beat by a Chile Beer which came in 2nd, yes it was spicy...
and first place was a chocolate irish stout... I guess the chocolate is considered a vegetable due to it being derived from a bean.
My chocolate peppermint stout came in second in the specialty beers category, which is pretty much a free for all for beers that don't fall into a specific style. The only reason i didn't come in first place is due to "chunks" in it... which there are little flakes which are a residue of the boiling of the chocolate which does a good job of separating out the fats and wax. The chunks, being extremely small though noticeable, aren't that pleasant to look at and most people are a little worried about drinking them... but they're harmless since they're in the baking chocolate anyway.
My next batch i need to filter those flakes out... so i can pull a first place with my beer that apparently tastes identical to a peppermint patty

I want!!!!!

huh... never really thought to describe the kind of look i'm going for... but i guess that is the best way to meld styles together to get something concise.
i guess i'm looking for a mix of punk/retro and casual business. Something that skirts the realm of "decent work wear", is still comfy for everyday use and sets me apart from the rest of the pubes.

I'd sway away from buying anything with a too much colors going everywhere.. color is fine, but when there's color just to be loud, then there's a problem..

the boutique branding is a HUGE part of the price.
I honestly don't mind, at this point in my life, spending a little more on my clothing to move away from the pack. I'm tired of dressing like everyone else... even though i've always been the best dressed of my friends... none of them give two hoots about style in any way shape or form.

he's being a dick bag.
1) today we've been together 10 years. i wasn't looking for presents or anything stupid, maybe just an acknowledgement. but when i reminded him he said "omg a third of my life"
2) he has been a dick ever since he started grad school this fall cuz he's jealous of my free time (i'm not the one who told him to go back to school and work full time)
3) he is trying to register for spring semester and aparently its not going well so he's screaming and yelling at the computer, the phone & me.

haha I want to suggest carpe diem boots, but they're PRICEY..
oh and wrath arcane shirts fit small.. I own two shirts and I had to size up from traditional sizes.. I'm a standard 40 which is about a medium/large and I went with a large with the wrath arcane shirts..
so if you're between sizes, I'd definitely size up..
or just tell me you're chest size and I can suggest a size in wrath arcane for you
maaaaybe you should go cook him some dinner, get him his slippers and pipe...

9.5 ~ 43
none of that matters anyway since all brands have different sizing.
best way is to order and see if they fit.. if not, they return
you probably know this already, but boots usually run larger than sneakers

i'm beginning to think there is more to it... every time he's got a random comment about me it involves me being gay for some reason... or no reason...
I think he may be a little jealous, i don't really talk to or about him all that much... if really at all, so he tries to bait me into either conflict or conversation.
