BMW 135I Vs Evo X
That being said I'm currently supporting two sports cars and a brand new bike. I'm tired of fixing crap on both cars. I want to get something new, clean, and with a warranty. I love the 135I and the Evo X and I'm between the two. The 135I may pull faster, but it just doesnt handle as well. I love the style of both cars and they appeal to me. Opinions? |

I really hope not... I've always heard 24.
Anyhow... I'd like to add another point of view. The cars are two completely different animals as you all know. The evo X is nice, but for the money the 135I is better looking, classier, and I'm sure built better. It wouldnt be a bad route because I wouldnt want to mod and void a warranty. I feel like the X would just be more of the same... Dumping money into mods never satisfied, and always wanting more. The 135I would be satisfying, comfortable, sylish. I'd be happy just throwing some O.Z's on it and calling it a day. |

Your insurance goes down at 25 not 24 at least in PA. Chances are the BMW will be cheaper to insure then the Evo X

Drove both cars in stock and modded form, it's like night and day. The 135 is a ultra-classy car that will always get a nice complements wherever you go. Bolt on mods get you into the 400s without any issues, but the negative is cost. Everything on these cars cost big $$$$ and might make you feel a bit guilty pushing it.
The Evo has a totally different powerband but like the 135 when modded gets into the 400s without any issues. Now the issue you have to deal with is the stigma of the "riceboy" the car carries with it. Due to it's price, a number of "kids" picked up these cars in the past and have started trouble due to cheap HP. Some ppl in law enforcement just have a bone to pick with Asian import cars due to their track record. On the flipside if you don't make yourself standout, the whole LE issue is a moot point. If I had the means I would jump at the 135 and mod it into a refined 400ish car and enjoy it. Hell I would even go so far as to say wear a Brooks Bros suit with it and slick your hairback. Now if I wanted to something to break records with and not have to worry about cost and parts being shipped over from Europe, the Evo is the way to go. My buddy had one of the fasted Evos on the east coast (Documented into the 8s) and he drove it everyday to work, yet it looked bone stock on the outside. Your taste may vary but I would get an Evo to put up the wild numbers or the 135 to have a powerful yet classy turnpike rocket. |

135 is the easy Answer... I would trade my STi right now for a used 335 coupe with no questions asked.

135. evo X is only an evo in name. sure its fast but its not an evo. and why buy the name without the feel to go with it, just to have the boy ricer stigma. the sad part is they cost the same once you get an evo optioned near a 135.
and bmw offers free manteninece ect. i dont know if youve been in a mistu dealer ever but a bmw dealer is a much nicer place to kill an hour while your oil is being change for free. get 135 and enjoy a 400whp sleeper

the way i see it is BMW=grown up, classy. where as the EVO=boy-racer, yet some class.
i personally would go for towards the evo cause at 25 i'd still want an evo. maybe look into a luxury DD like an infinity, lexus etc.

I would choose the 135I. I'm assuming that you're going to likely have this car for a while. As you get older, you may feel silly driving a "ricer boy car". A BMW conveys style and class. I would stick with that.

i would love an 135 .. but .. i would also like to be able to drive it in the winter with relative safety and i don't car how many people say " ohh but with snow tires and 4 tons of lead in the trunk they handle fine" .. no they dont .. awd is the only way i would go unless i had a beater for the winter or lived where there was no winter

For that price range, why not look into some of the Audi options? I have seen/sat in the 135. Eh, So damn small. But my fat ass also had a problem feeling comfortable in the EVO X seats as well. I think in the price range of both you could look at A5's and the TT's is you like the small car. Or maybe try to find an S4 or S5 a few years old off lease? Just a suggest.

Also it's 25, that your auto insurance will go down. Trust me I know, 100%. It's the age group 16-24 thats most at risk.

Test drive both.
Find out insurance difference. At 24, the Evo will be more expensive to insure almost guaranteed. Figure out what you'd like to do with the car. Everyone mentions the Evo's power potential, but the car will outhandle the 135i with ease. Do you plan on DDing the car through the winter? The 135i won't be the best for that. How important is the interior to you? The X's isn't shabby in MR form. Will you own the car outside of warranty? Parts and maintenance will be cheaper on the Evo by a good margin. Do you plan on modding at all? The BMW can run 11's with light work but it's not cheap plus like with the Mitsu, your warranty goes bye bye once you do. (Magnusson-Moss Act notwithstanding). OR you've already made up your mind in which case sign the check.

I own an X right now at 24 and I'm going to the be making the switch to the 1er. Hands down its a great car, better looks, BMW fit and finish, awesome power and driveability. Only pitfall is the RWD and PA winters. Even though a good set of snows should help this some, I will still miss my AWD.
