The usual balance deal. Very small paperclips help. If not a little tape can go a long way. Dont make short, fat wings they suck. Oh and do some work......slacker.

make a standard airplane and all along the leading edge of the wing make a very small fold downwards. this enhances the low pressure area under the wing of the plane and helps it to fly. can also create drag if you make it too big so be careful! i got the idea from watching a wings episode about the nasa lifting body program

I used to have a book when I was younger that had directions on how to make tons of paper airplanes. I made a stealth bomber as my most impressive one. You need like 5-6 pieces of paper, but the thing was BA. There was one called the Pelican which would practically fly forever.

Claims to be "The Best Paper Airplane in the World." Sounds pretty 1337 to me.

if u go to the franklin institute they have a station that that shows you how to make various paper airplanes and there is even a little "bullpen" for you to test it out. lol
My son makes me make them all the time at home also, and I use one of the techniques that Chaos posted

I like the round cylinder versions... most control and longest distance from them...

I went to an aeronautical school... we had a contest every semester for a $1000 scholarship. Stupid engineers went to the extent of using the wind tunnel to design their planes and designing launching mechanisms. There were many unique designs that flew pretty far. The only rule was you had to use a standard 8 1/2 x 11 20lb paper and not remove any material.
