SUUCCHHH a cheaper option. You can actually reuse the rope. We should go back to public executions. Maybe that will strike some reality into people.

If you want to hang a convicted criminal sentenced to death, be my guest. I think there should be options based on the severity of their crimes.

If you're talking about hanging an innocent person.... I'd have to say no.

I am talking about hanging criminals, idiots, and politicians that even think about violating the constitution.

Public executions are the only way to go.

let me get this straight, but you guys are supporting what is happening at gitmo, as well as public hanging, and in the same sentence the constitution.
Did you forget this parts?
"Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted."

Do you guys support the patriot act too? Did you forget this?
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

now do you not feel that our founding fathers would have included electronic documents, and telephone communications, had they percieved their existence?

Also, busted ujoint, have you ever undergone a labotamy? You are saying that we should detain 399 innocent people, torture them, ruin their public standing, and bring disgrace to them and their family, to get information from 0.2% of the prisoners? lol!

Are you forgetting hanging is still legal in two states?

Hanged, drawn and quartering as far as I know is the only way "hanging" is considered "cruel" and "unusual" punishment. Hanged, drawn and quartering is dragging to the place of hanging, hanging until almost dead, burning their eyes out, cutting off their genitalia and then cutting the body into four parts, and lastly, cutting their heads off.

If you think the founding fathers would think "hanging" is cruel and unusual, consider the idea that hanging, drawing and quartering was used a method of punishment for those who committed treason until 1814. The Constitution was written in 1787, ratified in 1788. So.. no, hanging is NOT unconstitutional and was NOT unconstitutional at the time it was written.

So your logic isn't all that logical, if you want to put it that way.

That would be included under the "effects" part.

^ It violates the Geneva Convention laws on treatment of prisoners of war. The Bush administration tried to get around this by saying that they are not war prisoners, while at the same time waging a war on terror.
Point being, it's cruelty, against international law, and we wouldn't want another country to do it to our people.

Art, are you talking to me? I personally was speaking of people in the US.. as it's still an option in the state of Washington as opposed to lethal injection.. as well as New Hampshire.

Yes I was.
You're saying that the torture that happens in gitmo is legal because of some old law that allowed hanging and beheading. Im saying its not because of the Geneva Convention.

And quite honestly...we as Americas should be better then that.
