tunnel to auto cable?

dont really know alot about it, but im looking into buying a 92 teg. The teg just got a new motor in it but the guy said it needs to have a tunnel cut from whewre the auto cable ran through and an ls shift linkage. any idea what that means.. im not to smart with this ****.... lol
