HAve you checked his fuel pump controller? For some reason everytime any of my friends put injectors into their Zs the fuelpump controller always went. Like instantly, the'd put the plenum back in and the car would just crank. You could either replace it, or hotwire your friends fuel pump (which is what both of my friends did in their 300ZXs) I'm assuming since you know enough to pull the plenum on those god awful cars, rewiring the fuel pump controller should be cake. (it sits right behind the drivers seat) good luck!

ok so the car now throws a code 42 and i'm just baffled, I know its not the real problem but what ever it is it went from the knock sensor to fuel temp sensor.
Blackvr4 did your friend use deshwork injectors

I'm not expert on the 300zx but whenever an annoying problem like this occurs, it could be as simple as a fuse or relay that you might have overlooked.
Just throwing my .02 cents in there.

Just got done looking at everything an even replaced a few wires. I'm taking a break for the night and am still baffled. I've read so much as to paople swaping out the fuel temp sensor to full fu system rebuilds. In my honest opinion from what I think it could be is a ground but everything I can get is touching metal and all rust has been sanded off. All imput is welcome so keep firing I'm hoping something will hit me because I would hate to pass up the op to work on a great memorie.

both of my friends that deleted their fuel pump controller put stock injectors into there cars when the fuel pump controller just stopped working out of the blue right after the injector swap.

ok so fuel code issue is gone and now it still will not turn over.
new symptoms are that when you turn the key the first time it trys to start but will not fully turn over. then on second try make a clicking noise, then on third try it just clicks once and is done. battery on the other hand when hooked up to a charger with a jumpstart feature will still not turn over. the car reads code 55 which is the code for all clear and battery light and check engine light stay on.
