7 bolt is better design, also stronger, Its just prone to the whole beatin to death crankwalk scenerio. You also want to ask yourself if your going to need the stronger 4 bolt rear or 3 bolt rear if choosing a 1G. The 4 bolt is less likely to sheer axles off the rear. You will also find both 1G (93-94) and 2G (95-99) 7 bolts, there are differences here too. Get any year but a 90. 2G (95-99) is where its at though

2gs willbe more recognizable by non car people since they know what it is buttt 1ga 89-91 are cooler looking, and you see a lot less of them riced out imo hence why i own a 91. parts are cheap and readily available for all DSMs so pick whatever year you want or whatever year you find that is in best shape. just know if its a 95-96 with the original motor that its most likely to crankwalk

My personal opinion would be either a 91 or 92 Awd. Good luck finding one that hasn't been hacked up. It took me the better part of three months to find mine. And be ready to shell out some $$ cause odds are you'll pay through the nose for one in such condition.

I always liked the 90-91 best because of the styling. Owned 3 before I got out of DSMs. FUN cars....I'd go with the 91 and swap in a 4 bolt rear axle and 92 brakes.

A 92 (6 bolt/ 4 bolt combo) is the best DSM to buy. But, the 90-91 cars (flip-up headlights) are the best looking, IMHO. Don't buy a 90. Ask Rob why...
95 -96 is the worst DSM to buy. The 7 bolts, while more powerful than the 6 bolts, are the most likely to crankwalk. (To clarify, any motor can crankwalk, but the 95-96 7-bolt is most likely). The 2g Talons look nice, but I don't like the 2ga Eclipse "smiley face", that's just my opinion. All 2g's are prone to strut tower rot. GVR4's are tits. nuff said.
