News UPDATED 3:25 p.m. Police:Three people stabbed in West Chester

Published: Friday, April 23, 2010

By DANIELLE LYNCH,Staff Writer

WEST CHESTER — Three people were reportedly stabbed in the 100 block of East Gay Street early Friday morning, according to police.

About 12:37 a.m. West Chester officers received a 911 dispatch call that an individual was reportedly stabbed at the Spare Rib Bar in the 100 block of East Gay Street, according to police. The responding officers found a 39-year-old West Chester man with multiple stab wounds to his torso, police said.

While responding to that call, police received another call that a second stabbing victim was located in the unit block of Matlack Street. A 31-year-old West Chester man had multiple stab wounds to the torso, police said.

While rendering aid to the second victim, police received a call that a man and woman dropped off a third stabbing victim at Chester County Hospital, police said. This victim, a 23-year-old West Philadelphia man, had a stab wound in his neck, according to police.

The 39-year-old victim was flown to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He underwent surgery and is listed in serious condition, police said.

The 31-year-old victim was flown to the Crozer-Chester Medical Center where he was treated and later released.

The 23-year-old victim was flown to Temple University Hospital. He underwent surgery and is listed in serious condition, police said.

The names of the victims were not immediately released. The investigation is ongoing.

Investigators ask anyone with information about this incident to contact the West Chester Police Department at 610-696-2700.

violence/crime in West Chester is nothing new. Most blocks east of Franklin and South of Market are not good neighborhoods. People think of WC as just a college town with a hipster restaurant and bar scene.

When I was in college at WCU a dude got shot with a CROSSBOW at 7-11 on S. High St. Watch your back wherever you go.

...180 grain .40S&W Federal HST Tactical is my carry round of choice. no matter what leaves the barrel, i think the general consensus is that the stabber (if caught mid-stabbing) would not have had a good end to his night.

to me, i think it's a little retarded to have to justify anything to the anti-gun idiots out there. carry everywhere and all the time, no matter what. criminals do not post up their stabbing/shooting schedules for everyone to check before they leave the house. crime can happen anywhere and anytime, it's not paranoia, it's just pure stupidity to NOT have the ability to protect yourself and the people you love.

(this thread will be locked shortly i bet. lol. another gun debate thread probably won't go over well haha)

I lived at 250 east gay street last year. definitely some shady areas when you get out of the very center of town, and away from the university.

The hornady critical defense round is specifically designed to not get caught in layers of clothing just so you know.

The sort of scary thing is I sometimes will park in my dad's lot instead of the parking garage or the first national lot. And that would be about on par with the time of night I would get there had I been at work. I was talking to my dad about it and he said once he heard they were from the Spare Rib he was not surprised at all. That bar is a total **** hole and attracts nothing but low lifes.

Also, Ranger T's FTW...
