driving on the street with slicks.

I have a set of m&h slicks for the hatch. I really hate changing wheels at the track. how bad you think it is to drive to the track on them? track is less than 10 miles away. I would assume just wear out faster, which is fine as it's a short drive.

Aside from wear, do they extend past your fenders? Is your turning ability inhibbited? What are you going to do if it rains?

lol it really depends on the car man....

slicks on a honda are no big deal unless they're too big for the wheel well and you cant turn... regardless your turning radius will be hindered, but it should be drivable...

in the rain slicks arent bad unless you hit standing water like puddles, then you can count on l hydroplaning... maybe even losing control if youre going fast enough.

ya like i said its only going to be from the track and back. i just hate leaving my wheels laying in the parking lot and taking the time to change them after a long night at the track. they are close to the same size as my street tires, so turning shouldnt be an issue and I dont go to the track in the rain, lol. i was more worried about hurting the slicks besides the added wear on them.

Just because you're not going in the rain doesn't mean you won't get caught in it at some point.

slicks + street = asking the police to pull you over even ten minutes away.

just suck it up go w/ a friend that doesn't run their car on the track and throw tools and street tires in the trunk. I mean why be so lazy? lol

As long as the tires don't interfere with his turning radius, you have nothing to pull him over for.

its not that far....the f-body crowd runs drag radials on the street all the time...I know there is a HUGE difference going to a slick but.....I knew a few that would DD on D/R's and numerous times run slicks to go to the track

PS: just making that point, you are refering to putting slicks on drive/steering wheels...that will change things

chain your rims to a fence/bleachers etc.. i've seen it done many times. i'd think buying chains and locks would be cheaper than burning through a set of slicks faster.

i wouldnt drive on the street with slicks. you'll pick up stones etc and then when you burn out they fly right into your paint. plus i think full on, no tread slicks are illegal on the street.
