I got a tint ticket for my front windows. No fine, but I had to pull it off and get the ticket signed at a PA state police barracks.
The tint was back on in two weeks.

Why do you have to make a post because you got a window tint ticket? My grandmother knows its not legal to have dark tint... Pay the ticket and stewfu! At least he didn't hand you a razor blade and make you take it off right there on the spot.

Ummmm.... did someone piss in your Cheerios today or what?

It's a public forum.

He didn't say anything negative about the citation issuing officer.

He just asked what the fine might be (reasonable question) or if there was any way out of it (pulling the tint and showing the Trooper worked for me)

As for handing him a razor and making him take it off on the spot, I LOLd at that one.
MYTH!
No way an officer of the law is gonna hand someone a deadly weapon and stand there while they use it on their car. (idiot)
The liability alone (not just the fact that the blade could be used to slice the officer)deters such action.
Slip (accidentally or ON PURPOSE) and slice yourself with a blade an officer FORCED you to use and a lawyer has a FIELD DAY. "Police officer forces motorist to remove window film at scene of traffic stop.... motorist severly injured requires several stitches" News at 11 LOL

Roommate had to do the same thing. Probably what you'll have to do. I doubt you'll get fined.

are you serious, or was it the tough guy internet answer? there's a notable difference between 30 percent and none... it is worth it. You can see examples anywhere. 50 percent is where it starts to get not worth it.

simple answer: youre not getting out of anything. In NJ its a "fix-it" ticket which means u take it off and pay the court fees.

From experience: Not worth having on your car unless its a show car which you have trailered.

I'm a little confused ..

If you were given a ticket, the ticket should have the cost of your fine written on it. If you don't know what your fine is, then it sounds like you might have been given a 'warning' -- which means you have a certain amount of days to remove the ticket and show your non-tinted car to the officer, and then you'll be free and clear. I suggest reading the paperwork that was given to you.

However, I know through vicarious experience that even if you're given a ticket for tint, the ticket itself is NOT any sort of mandatory order to remove the tint. You can pay the fine and leave your tint on. But if you do that, and get caught again by the same officer .. you could be in for an even bigger fine. Again, I speak through vicarious experience.

I have 20%, and that's riding a very fine line. I'll never get anything darker again.

not sure how PA works, but window tint tickets in NJ are not listed on the ticket. If you got a ticket you're not getting out of it. When that ticket is written, it won't just disappear because you remove it. If its an actual summons, just pay it and learn. 3% is a little bit to obvious as it is.

I have 20% on mine and got pulled over two summers ago. I was written a fix -it-ticket. I didn't want to go through the trouble of having it removed then put back on, so I let it turn into a ticket.

$109 ticket arrived in my mail box. Signed the "I am guilty" line and sent that bad boy in. No trouble since then though.

I was given a warning and told to remove mine and its only 30% I just had a west chester officer I know sign off on the ticket. Told me if I got caught again to just say it was redone, but Id for sure get a ticket, not a warning

I'm serious, but it can be the internet tough guy answer if you'd like. Theres a huge difference between 30% and 5%. It's basically taking as law that 5% looks awesome on every color, anything higher looks alright depending upon car color.
Would I put 5% on a yellow car? No. It attracts attention. Will I on black? Damn straight I did, anything less looks like poo! Will I pay the ticket yes and I have, Tullytown hasn't bothered us since.

5% tint is way too dark, everyone should know this. carbonis is right, anything below 30% is going to get you tickets. 30% looks way better than nothing.

5% looks awesome. Its not worth the potential hassle, though. I like to think 15/20% is a happy medium.

due to my laziness and not looking at state statues here in pa yet.

do they have it where if you have two outside mirrors on the car up here you can use 5% on the back window and say the back side windows? (like on a 240, it's not like I have enough space back there for even a 3 month old child.) lol

then a uv tint on the door windows?
