Z31Fanatic went with me to look at it, so I took some pictures of his car when he wasnt paying attention :P

The rust, and by the i mean all of it:

Floors from the bottom:

As you can see, it appears it rusted from the inside out, as if leaking seals...well wait, the window was down and the seals are MIA...

I'll be ordering new floors and frame rails and replacing the rusted out floors and frame rails. Body will be repaired with as much metal as possible, and as you clearly see its not that bad at all ;)

I'm assuming this is from a blown HG, this engine had a failpro gasket when I took it apart.

Its also sat for a while w/o an intake on it:

The head:

I'm building a L28 for the car though, so not a big deal.

yeah..tons of old copied & pasted. Haven't touched it in a good month due to school and Z31...

You're a braver man than I, but I've never done body work. Do you have experience with this kind of thing? Looking forward to following your progress and hoping to see you take as much time needed to get this thing right, it could be pretty awesome.

Hell yea, you can get new frame rails and floor pans from Motorsport Auto for like 800 bucks. So for a grand you have a pretty sweet car. Old Z's are my favorite.

I'd rather shell out the money for a cleaner shell and keep this as a parts car.
Awesome price but the time to do all that metal work makes me cringe.

GL I also love the old Z's

DAMN that is rusty. really makes me appreciate my $500 240Z.

I'll understand if you wanna take on the project for the skills you'll acquire, but if just want a Z, I HIGHLY recommend you get a new shell. That's going to cost a fortune to fix.

Well good luck. You've got a ton of work ahead of you, probably more than you realize, since rust loves to hide. I bought my car thinking it had a third of the rust it actually has.

Hope you do manage to bring it back though, since no one else will.

What are your plans for it? Besides undoing the factory weight reduction system.
