Sti replacement pistons

Well it's time to build. Spent most of the day trying to read up on some different piston choices. So far we've got Mahle, JE, Wiesco. Pretty much my plans are nothing crazy. For now I'll be using a vf39. If I upgrade in the near future I'll only be going up to an HTA68. Goals around 350 whp give or take. Pretty much I'm not willing to try to deal with the stock pistons and possibly have a ringland go on me. Since it's down to the short block now would be a good time to replace them to be safe.

I don't need anything baller or anything like that. Stock bore even though I'm going to double check to make sure everything in there is good but that should be what I need. I've been doing a lot of reading and everywhere I read everything has advantages and disadvantages and on nasioc some know what they are talking about and some don't. lol.

i get what u mean about being safe, but 350 isnt that close to the stock pistons limit. theres really no reason the open the motor for just an HTA68. and to hit 350 on that turbo u'll most likely need meth so that would keep things safe for ur internals. Im going 20g sometime in here shooting for 350-375, I figure I'll do pistons a bt later if I decide to keep the car once Im making real money out of school.

Ive heard good things about Manley Pistons, But I'z no expert on that

I don't trust the stock sti pistons. Have seen a few of them come in with broken ringlands with not that many miles on them. Otherwise I'd use the ones I have.

I've heard of manley pistons also but haven't heard if they are any good or not. Like I said though no matter what I research people are going to have horror stories and praises. Just have to figure out what is bs and a bad build opposed to the piston actually being the problem.

Check out Subie_Sleeper's member journal. He's already done what you want to do. If something survives his punishment its GOT to be good.
