Eagles release Westbrook

Well I'm surprised no one made this thread yet but yeah I don't like it at all. I know everyone will say oh he's old and been hurt, all which I agree has been horrible. But dude would play hurt (cept for the concussion cause you just can't) and open up wide outs for plays just because of his presence on the field. Teams didn't know how to defend the Eagles when both Westbrook and Jackson were on the field at the same time.

It just seems that the Eagles are doing a slow rebuild. If you look at the track records of the last couple of years, they are letting proven older guys go to draft young guys. Mark my words if they don't get rid of McNabb this year, he we be resigned next year.

BWest...you are one of the greatest eagles ever and will be missed. I will be buying your jersey for whatever team you sign with just like I did with BDawk!

You said it..hes older, and hurt. Not to mention they would have owed him some serious money if he stayed on. We have some fresh talent in the back field, and they are pretty strong. They showed good skill in the screen pass last year, which the eagles are #1 at in the league. We need a short yardage guy, and big guy; not three fast guys. We have nobody to convert 3-1s, we have speed east and west...but need power north. I like it. LT is a good option for the Birds, and its being discussed with the Eagles. I have some inside ears Ide love to see Lt come here.

A. Team's don't know what to do with Jackson alone, let alone w/ Westbrook on the field.

B. McNabb will retire an Eagle. There is just to way to avoid it. I see Kolb taking over the team within a couple of years.

As for Westbrook, it doesn't matter what jersey he wears next year, he will ALWAYS be an Eagle!

I agree with you here cept B. I think depending on what happens with QB situations on other teams (Vikings, Rams, Skins, Seahawks, Raiders, Bills), will effect if the Eagles will entertain offers and what they will ask for. I'd like to see the Eagles pick up Gerhart, small compact dude with legs that just keep moving. For a white dude, he has some good cutting skills (most likely acquired from playing baseball). But they will probably go defense with the first round pick.

I don't think it's a terrible decision since he's kinda past his time and not in his prime anymore. We have something that can keep our running game good, and hopefully they get someone to replace Westbrook just to have that added option in the backfield. McNabb should have been let go a long time ago, but they will just keep paying and paying and paying, for mediocre performances.

i hate to say it, but the cowboys appeared to know what to do with jackson. Hopefully other teams don't pick up on it.

Westy has been one, if not the, favorite eagle for me over the past decade (Dawk is the other of course). I'm not surprised they let him go, given their track record with older players. Honestly, and these are just my thoughts, I think he should call it himself. Concussions are no joke, and they way he got two rapid fire this year made me think of Lindros. I'm honestly concerned that he may have some significant damage to the ol' thought-pot.

yeah, that was one of my concerns as well. letting him go is a good thing on that end because it prevents further damage, and danger.

just sucks that he was one of our star players lol

Yes he was a great player for the Eagles, but if he keeps taking those hard hits like he always does, then he will be missing almost half the season again. I'm sure the Eagles would of loved to keep him but with the way last season goes, he's more than likely going to get another concussion (although I hope he doesn't for his health purpose). I also don't think LT would be that great of a fit for the Eagles. He isn't what he used to be and is running out of steam. Yeah he has some left but it's like putting another Trotter in there, just at running back though, which takes a lot more abuse.

McCoy who we already have looked like a pretty good rb for us. im not too worried about letting westbrook go. he is one of my favorite eagles, but i think this works out for everyone.

i wanna see McNabb get the fu(k out of here. i am so sick of seeing him laughing and smirking after he screws up a play when their down 24-7 in the 4th. he bothers me too much lately!!

He also ripped apart the Saints defense as well. Yea, we lost that game, but he threw 300yrds passing that game.

I see Vick going before McNabb. Yea, these teams are looking for QBs, but I don't see anything they have, worth giving up for McNabb.

And, the Bill would be out, just because of T.O. And I don't think Philly would let McNabb stay within the NFC East (Skins).

I'll definitely be sad to see Westbrook go. I always rocked his jersey with a lot of pride, always enjoyed watching him play, and always thought of him as an excellent example of a professional athlete. But as much as I hate to see him leave, I think it's best that he does so -- for his own well-being. Let him enjoy the rest of his life without the risk of having his brain smacked around any more than it already has been.

I'll throw one of the biggest ****ing parties in PA the day that McNabb is finally gone. I can't stand the sight of him anymore.

Supposedly McNabb and TO are BFFs now. Guess they kissed and made up. I would think that the Bills and Vikings would be the only places that would show interest. He could teach Edwards and Fitzpatrick...maybe Brohm (cough cough waste of a pick cough cough) but depends on what they would give up.

Skins I think will be drafting a QB...probably Bradford.
