Stop!

just need to gloat about my new toys... not pictured are DBA 4000 slotted rotors for the front, which i hear kick serious ass. i'll get more photos either pre or post install. these are Ferodo DS2500 pads, and although on the expensive side, are supposed to be great street/autox pads... too bad it'll be a couple months at least before i'm back on summer tires

edit: i should add that these are for my WRX. they are for the JDM 4 pot front calipers combined with the DBA 4000 slotted front rotors, and the stock rear calipers combined with H6 rear rotors (11.4" vs. 10.3" stock). also pictured are black lugs to go with my steelies, and a kartboy rear shifter bushing to go along with my front bushings and tranny mount to finish off of the shifter/tranny stiffness mods.

very nice Brian, any idea on the coefficient of friction and temp range for the Ferodo pads??? also, have you upgraded your brake lines and what fluid will you be running??

do you also have upgraded engine mounts for your car? not sure about the Scoobies but I know on a lot of cars when you upgrade the tranny mounts/bushings and don't upgrade the engine mounts/bushings as well it places excess stress on the engine mounts and transmission

i can't wait till the season starts up.....then i can finally install my endless pads and rotors ....right now they're just sitting in my room teasing me lol

for brake fluid, i highly recommend ATE Super Blue http://www.raceshopper.com/ate_brake_fluid.shtml aside from the fact that it makes the initial fluid flush easy as hell, they also offer this brake fluid in a gold color....alternate each fluid flush b/t the blue and the gold and you'll always be sure you perform a full brake flush ....i used there brake fluid last season when I was running CarboTech Panther Plus (track pads for street radial tires....one step below the pads for use with straight slicks) and it worked very well....plus its not expensive at all

i actually have a full set of the Panther+ pads sitting right next to me, but i drive my car daily and autox but have yet to get to a track day so i was actually trying to sell them in favor of these new ferodos. everyone in the subaru world who uses them says they are a fantastic street pad that is also great for autox, and even light track use, but any serious track time will be too much for them. it sounds perfect for me.

here's info about them that i pulled up:

"As seen in the graph, the DS2500 material has a friction level of approximatively 0.50 which remains constant at any speed and at any temperature that the brake system is working at.

The DS2500 compound is designed for racing applications thanks to its excellent speed and temperature sensitivity characteristics but it can also be used for fast road use, being a popular choice of owners of high performance cars such as Imprezas.


The main characteristics of DS2500 are:

Race developed
Performs equally well on heavy and light cars
20% less pad wear than competitive products
Minimal bedding-in. Supplied ready to use
Disc friendly
Consistent friction level with changing temperatures and speeds to give optimal pedal modulation
High friction level at low temperature (good cold braking)
High friction level at very high temperatures
35% less compressibility than competitive products (racing pedal feel)
Less noise for increased driving comfort"




I'm already running Goodridge SS brake lines, and ATE Super Blue fluid. And I have Group N Motor mounts to go along with the Tranny mount.

The only reason I'm installing these now is because I'm having issues with my current setup with Carbotech Bobcat front pads and I was able to secure a refund for them so I need to return them as soon as I have a chance to get that refund. I have heard great things about them, just think I got a bad set.
I think I'll hold off on installing the rear Ferodo pads until I put my summer tires back on, but everything else pictured, including the DBA 4000 rotors will be installed... right... now

sounds like a great compromise pad for street/autox/track usage

i'm sure you must have gotten a bad set of Bobcat pads, Larry and Matt over at Carbotech are a good bunch of guys....they've always done well by me...i ran the Bobcats after I was through with the Paanther Plus....running Panther Plus on the street daily with brand new rotors the entire setup last me 9 months .....i don't recommend anybody run that type of setup...especially if they have absolutely no track experience what so ever (very dangerous if not experienced to some degree)

here's the info on the pads I'm going to be running from Endless



i also have a set of blank rotors from Endless.....i need to see if i can get them to fit onto my s13....i'm pretty sure they will seeing as how the car already has Z32TT calipers on it up front and i'm going to get a set of Z32 rear calipers as well (R33 GTS-T and Z32TT have the exact same front and rear calipers and on the box for my rear rotors the label says Z32/ECR33...i just have to be sure the fronts will fit).....my biggest reason for wanting to use these rotors is b/c they are 290mm front and rear iirc and the fronts are 32mm thickenss and vented while the rears are 28 or 30mm thickness and also vented
