Nikon announces 24/1.4, 16-35/4 VR

I think it's very cool that they gave an ultra-wide VR and it's still less than $1300. This one I could actually see myself getting.

The 24/1.4 looks rad, and will be awesome for video (so will the 16-35), but costs almost $2200. Yikes. I hope this will just drive down the price of the old overpriced 28/1.4 AF-D.
Sample images from the 24 - http://www.bobkrist.com/blog/fast-wide-and-handsome/

I was hoping they'll bring a new 35/1.4, but if it's priced like the 24/1.4 there's no way I'm getting it. They still have a few announcements left over the next month or so, we'll see.

I agree it's ridiculous. But I also think there are going to be enough people willing to spend that kind of money to put it into backorder, so Nikon can do what they want.

I hope either; they release a 35/1.4 at a good price so I can pick it up used in a few months; the 28/1.4 drops in price significantly; OR Nikon releases a FX camera that does as well/better with video as the 5D2 so that these lenses can be awesome on video too.
I don't see any of these things happening.

24/1.4 looks like nice little lens, to bad its got the plastic base... the 16-35 would be more attractive to me if it was faster f2.8ish... love my 12-24 but so wish it was an f2.8 instead of the f4
