Merry Christmas Mustang fans. I came across two leaked photos of the 2011 Mustang GT on Twitter today and thought some of you would like to see them. Gotta love the 5.0 badge front and center on the engine. For those living under a rock the 2011 Mustang GT is coming with an all-new 5.0-liter motor with 412 horsepower and 390 lb-ft 0f torque. More photos below.

The 5.0-liter motor will be an all-aluminum engine featuring iron cylinder sleeves, forged crankshaft, four-bolt main bearings, high-performance pistons and connecting rods. Another feature of the engine is vertical intake ports and twin independent variable valve timing. New tuned exhaust headers on the new engine will eliminate the need for aftermarket headers thus helping the engine to breathe better. The 5.0-liter motor will be mated to a 6R80 six-speed automatic or MT82 six-speed manual transmission.

NICE, BUT...IF she comes with those numbers....That cars is going to need a LOT more rubber under her to get any traction. The Cobra tires suck also! I can not stand when they put wimpy rubber on these powerfull rwd cars. My wifes g35X kills these things 0-60 on a cool day. I guess its justification for new wheels and tires, and to learn how to drive better...lol.......but still!

exterior and interior wise, there are no differences.

with just under 100 hp and .4 liters more than the '10 gt, and 112 more hp than the 05-09 gt's, i'd certainly say the pics of the new engine bay are worth posting up

They are finnaly gonna have enough power to go up against the other two mammoth 3800lb+ tanks, with its power to weight, its prolly gonna make gm worry enough to make a z28, or maybe they should go all 80s and all bring back IROC Z, even though they havent sponsored in years.

love the new engine but also love the 6 speed manual...the mustang has been dying for a 6 speed since the cobra first came out with a DOHC engine. very pleased with the direction Ford is taking this car 2010+

edit: duh...the cobra has had the t-56 6 speed for years now. so ill change that to the GT, even though the SOHC modular hasn't been very good.

If thats the production engine bay, turning wrenches is gonna suck... That motor appears to be pretty shoehorned in there. Can you imagine Plugs/Headers on that thing?

As far as going to a 5.0, meh... It's a better starting platform, but it's really nothing the 3V motors couldn't do with some bolt ons. 6 Speed is FTW though

The 03/04 Cobra motor is packed under the hood just as tight if not worse.

In regards to your 3v comment....are you serious? The 3v motors are not that great at all. If the talk is true about the 5.0 with built internals, you're talking a way stronger motor then the 3v, which was known to start having issues at around 470rwhp and up.

The only thing forged i see is the connecting rods, i've seen/heard about the past 5.0 motors saying they've had forged internals when its only the rods. Sleds got like 2 or 3 pistons sitting around on his tool bench from people pushing these things. Guess no ones really gonna know till they come out hopefully this works for them cause my soon to be 5 year old car will smoke the hell out of a 2010 GT stock for stock. Ford< LS# Everything
