'95 Legacy tranny trouble

Hey guys, I just picked up a '95 Legacy, 2.2L NA, 5spd, awd, 190k. The trans continually pops out of 3rd and 5th, 4th is completely useless, and it sounds like its full of gravel. I figure the best thing is to get a used lower mile unit off ebay or something, but I'm new to subi's and don't know what years, models, and engine types have compatible trannys. I'm used to saying th350/400, m21/22, t5, t56, I don't even know what this thing is called, which would help when looking online.

So if anyone can help with info on interchangeability, model no., or if you know where one may be, I'd greatly appreciate it! It's my dd, so I need her rollin asap!

Thanks.

Seems like half the info I can find says that basically only a '95 trans-axle will work, but then other sites say that the manual trans was unchanged from '90 to '03. Can that be true? Any 5spd from that thirteen year span will work? Seems too good to be true, I mean there are at least 3 different 4cyls, an a 6cyl I think too, and I'm sure the diffs are different ratios depending on engine, right? I'm not as worried about electrical, as there is only a speed sensor, neutral, and reverse switches, I can jerry-rigg if them is that's the only things they changed, but It's def gotta bolt up to the 2.2L, and have the same diff ratio as the rear axle.

Again, ANY help would be appreciated!
