So... Who has an android phone?

Just got a HTC hero, I am loving the interface. Ive messed with my buddys iphone a lot, and the whole android system with HTC's sense UI on it is so flexible and awesome to tinker with compared to the iphone.

Only complaint I have about the Hero is the processing power, It does occasionally lag, but overall is just as speedy as a iphone 3g.

Anyone else have a android phone?

Oh I was made aware of the trackaroo app, it is sick!! Need to wait for the 2.1 update for the hero tho...

Andriod is great and horrible at the same time. I loved the interface when I played with it. The fact that I belive they are open sourcing the code will allow for alot of independent apps and developers to make software. The biggest downfall is that there are like 3+ different versions of it, apps are hard to make as they have to be tweaked for each different OS verision as well as different phones have different hardware so there are driver issues and tweaks that to make each phone work.

I love my Android powered phone. Not too fond of the network it belongs to, though. I wish I had 2.0, too. Like JP said, there are three versions of Android(1.5, 1.6, 2.0) and the open market often carries crap apps.

I just went from a Storm OS5 to a Droid(updated) yesterday and I like it so far. I am one of the selected few that liked my Storm as well. Every phone has it's pro and con.

Things I like so far:
-Fits better in my hand than the Storm.
-physical and soft keyboard is better.
-The speed is noticeably faster.
-Task killer is awesome. I no longer have to schedule a reboot everyday.
-Better apps (Other than not having iHeartRadio yet but that's not the phone's fault).
-WIDGETS
-Google maps especially traffic since I have a long work commute. Does anyone know how accurate the traffic layer is?
-Tethering!

Things that I'm hoping they will update
-Only the unlock key will wake the phone. All my previous phones could wake it either with a screen touch or any key. I usually just touch any button when I pull it out of my pocket to check the time. I feel the unlock key on the Droid is inconvenient also but this is just my opinion.
-You can't go landscape on the main screen unless the keyboard's out. The Storm will do this on any screen unless the app doesn't support landscape but this is rare. Also, landscape is only available one way and can't flip the other way like the Storm. It's inconvenient especially when I have it charging and listening to music.
-The Storm's camera is better in speed and focus. I'm hoping it's due to the software and not hardware but I haven't looked into the specs. I use the camera alot mainly cause I take pictures of things I need to remember for work. Not a big deal cause the camera is still decent but just an observation.

So far I don't think I'll go back to the Storm or return it. It's doing most things my Storm could do and more.

MTuning...I am in the same position as you right now. Well almost the same. I am up for my upgrade the end of January. I have a storm right now, I have loved and hated it over the almost year of owning it. I am currently on a hybrid 5.0 OS and it has gotten much better, much better with each upgraded OS actually. And I am thinking about getting the motorola droid too. I actually thought I was up for renewal the end of May so I thought I had more time, but I think I am just going to wait it out some anyways and see what's around and what's coming out. But it is great to hear a lot of pros from someone that is/was in my shoes

I have the mytouch....besides t-mobile being fail, I'm a huge fan of it. Once it did stop reading my sim card randomly so I got a new one, and it did it again about 3 days later so I had to get another...but that hasn't happened since.

since I've only had t-mobile phones that have all been awful, I'd say it's the best phone I've owned by a longshot, but it's not like I've had anything near it to compare it with....

I have the motorola droid. I like it so far the android 2.0 os is awesome. This is my first smartphone and I'm new to the scene but so far I love the differant apps. I downloaded a ringtone and sounds app, I forget what its called, but I have the matrix cell phone ring in the movie as my ringtone and metal gear solids codec ring as my text message and email notification haha. It kinda sucks surfing the internet because I have big fingers and its hard to press the correct link on a webpage even when its zoomed in. Also I've noticed the battery doesn't last all that long, motorola problem as usual.

I was going to switch to at&t and buy the iphone but it would have cost a lot to switch with a year and a half left on my contract with verizon. So I complained to verizon that my motorola rival phone sucked balls and threatened to switch to at&t and verizon extended to me a discount on the droid if I upgraded my plan, I was like alright haha

I just upgraded to a moto droid. I first got the htc imagio and that thing was a toilet and said I had to do a hard reset after baving it for four days.

The droid is great and the keyboard is really good after you get used to it. I reaqlly like the you tube app and the internet browsing is perfect. Its almost like having a mini laptop at all times.

I initially got a dud with my first droid. Froze and restarted every 10 minutes and during use. Got it replaced and now it's running perfect. 2.0.1 get my too. Looking forward to the next update.

I get some pretty good battery life too. Websites say 7hrs of general use, but i can get 2 days out of it with internet etc.

advanced task killer helps, i have my brightness set to manual and down relatively low (my eyes are already used to it, so it doesnt seem dark at all) and making sure bluetooth and wireless are off helps a lot.
