HID Problem

Ive had 4300k bi xenons in my car now for a little under 2 years. well last night, when i got in the car to go somewhere, i turned on my headlights and when they heated up to normal op temp (color) the one on my driver side became like an orangish purplish color. then go to where i was going, then left and then the bulb didnt want to come on at all, on the way home, i hit a bump and it began to light up, but it wouldnt go to high beam mode, which it has allways worked. then shortly after, it went off. any one have any ideas? i not sure if its the bulbs being shot, or the ballast?

Well if they keep coming on and off chances are it's a ballast (more common problem). Let them heat up and then tap on the headlights and on the ballasts one at a time to see if its causes them to flicker or shut off. If nothing happens move the wiring around and re-plug all the connectors.

We have HIDs if you need a replacement.

i tested both ballast on the working bulbs and both work. so guess its just a blown bulb.
how much would a set of bi-xenon 4300k bulbs be?

you should be able to get them off ebay pretty cheap.

i ordered some from the vendor i got them from in the get go. just on backorder though. 10k really blue. crazy blue lol. i wanted a stock look, and 4300k is perfect for that.

Sounds like a broken element wire in the bulb...The bump probably connected it together for a second.

5K is the way to go!!! Stock with a tease of blue. Not in a ricey way either!

yeah whatever it was, its no biggy. new ones are on the way. i can deal with halogens for so long lol
5k look sick. esp in projector housings.

i couldnt find any that were below 10k i was looking for 6k but all i found was 10k and it only came out to be 48 shipped with high and low beams. So i was like what the hell why not. Now i just have to get one pice head lights cause i dont wanna go blinding everyone on the road lol.

haha, I don't think you'll be blinding anyone with 10K bulbs...Maybe albinos.


Just aim them lower.

You guys do realize that the temperature of the bulb has no relation to blinding people? The temperature of the bulb just indicates the color output. Putting HID's into improper housings is what causes you to blind people. Regular houses are not meant to house powerful bulbs as regular housings scatter the light pattern.

Yes, but on the contrary, higher temperatures have dimmer output. So 10K won't be as bright as 5K...But you'll get more scatter out of 10K. So temperature does have a relation to blinding ppl.

But I know what you are saying. I am just saying 10K is pretty dim (for HID) and he isn't driving a truck/SUV so he won't be blinding anyone. And hi/low kits use halogen for the highs.

10K is not for me...But to each their own, right?

sure wish i would of looked more into this befor i got the 10k cause my head lights suck. I was looking for brighter/better lights

The lower the K, the brighter the light.

10k looks horrible. 4300-5k look stock.

Not sure which kits you looked at for the hi/lo, but the kits I have seen and installed actually moved the bulb itself in and out. So you still had HID hi/lo.

I am not sure, but 10K should still be brighter than your halogens...Do you have fogs? You can always put them in there and get a lower K in your lows.

I am talking the "plug & play" "HID upgrade hi/low kits. The high beams are halogen. Not like the projector HID's with the beam aim motor (I just made that name up).

well idk i just messaged them cause they didnt ship them if i could get 4k - 6k being max so we will see what happens!

hid in reflector housings FTL.

The really blue ones (8000k+) hurt my eyes almost more, even though they are not great output. Blue strains the eyes so much. idk how people constantly drive at night with them.

^^^ depends though, some reflector housings refract the light, esp the cut offs perfect. so if you have houseings that do so, and aim them properly, you should have no problems at all.

I have HIDs in my reflector housings, however they have a cut off and are aimable, which makes it look OEM and doesn't blind people. Directs the light directly in front of me and has a straight cut off.
