Yea, Its short notice, but I just saw their schedule today.

Looking at Island Dragway's schedule, tonight is the last Friday Night Street Legal night of the season for Island Dragway. This time of year, the air is nice and cool and you can get some great 1/4 mile times. Its open for both cars and motorcycles. Cost is $25 for racers. $10 for spectators.

Standard TST rules and the track rules apply. Just a few reminders:
Don't be a jackass doing burnouts in the pits. Wait until you are on the track for that.
Drive slow through the pits so you don't run somone over.

Track rules:
- Registered, insured, muffled vehicles only. (If your car is missing any of these criteria, please come on Saturday or Sunday.) Slicks are allowed. Car must be less than 90 dB from 100 feet away.
- Seat belts are required.
- Helmets (Snell 2000 or better) are required. K98 helmets are no longer valid. All competitors required to have Snell approved helmet. Vehicles running quicker than 13.99 required to have Snell 2000 or 2005 helmet.
- Long pants and a shirt are required.
- Motorcycles MUST have a full faced helmet, minimum leather jacket, gloves and boots, and long pants. Motorcycles quicker than 120mph MUST ALSO have leather pants.
- State issued drivers license required and must be shown upon demand.
- All competitors running quicker than 10.00 required to have current NHRA competition license.
- All vehicles (except bikes, sleds) running quicker than 10.00 required to have current NHRA chassis certification.
- Anyone 17 years of age MUST have a parental consent form signed and on file prior to racing. E-mail us or pick one up at the track.

I plan to get there between 6:30 and 7:00 PM tonight. If anyone from the Lehigh Valley area wants to meet up with me to drive there, let me know. I plan to leave from the Lowe's parking lot at the intersection of Freemansburg Ave. and RT. 33 at 5:45 PM.

Its easy to miss the turn onto Island road from Rt. 46 in NJ. Its near Nykun's General Store, Cannonball's Go-Go, and a small used car dealer.

The track's directions form their web site:
From NYC: Rt 80 west to exit 19. Bottom of ramp make left. Go approximately 6 miles into Hackettstown, make a right onto Rt. 46 West (Main St.) and follow for approx. 7 miles. Entrance to the track will be on the right hand side, just past Cannonball's Go-Go.

From Phila./Trenton: Rt. 31 North to end. Right onto Rt. 46 East. Track is 6 miles on left, just past Nykun's General Store.

From Central Jersey: 78 west to Rt. 31 North. Rt. 31 North to end. Right onto Rt.46 East. Track is located 6 miles on left, just past Nykun's General Store.

From Allentown: Old Rt 22 East thru Easton into Phillipsburg, NJ. Pick up Rt. 57 East at East end of Phillipsburg. Rt. 57 East to Rt. 31 North (Washington, NJ). Rt. 31 to end. Right onto Rt. 46 East. Track is 6 miles on left, just past Nykun's General Store.

From Scranton, Pa.: 81 south to 380 east. 380 east to 80 east. Cross over Delaware Memorial Bridge into New Jersey. Take exit 4 for Rt. 46 east. Follow 46 east approximately 20 miles into Great Meadows. Track entrance is on the left, just past Nykun's General Store.

Can you rent helmets or can I used my motorcycle helmet? Its not full faced because theres no lower jaw protection.

They have helmets available for rent at the track.

It started off not being busy, but as time went on the track got pretty crowded. Only about six bikes showed up, so the cars were getting a lot of runs in. I got twelve 1/4 mile passes in and I took several brakes to let the car cool down. The only complaint I have is they closed an hour early. The track prep at the beginning of the night wasn't all that great and everyone I talked with seemed to be having issues getting good 60' times, but they fixed that by 8:30 PM.

After they got the track in good shape, I made back to back 13.3 passes, one in each lane. I didn't have great 60' times on either of them, but I figure if I did get better 60' times I'd be running 12.9's to 13.1's.
