Wissahickon Park, Philadelphia PA

Went for a good 3 hour hike with two friends in Wissahickon/Farimont park in Philly. Took a few photos a long the way.

The rest of them can be seen here.

yea i'm definitely game for that. I need to give you a call some time soon to discuss things.

Thanks everyone. I was really surprised that such a park existed inside philly. It's really one of the better parks I have been to, and will definitely be going back.

You took some awesome shots! The park's big isn't it. There's an Indian statue in the woods overlooking the valley, did you see it? It's been there forever. I've lived 1 mile away from the park my entire life. Do me and yourself a favor when hiking , don't wear an Ipod. A few months ago a young college girl was jogging on the path and killed. A tree branch broke off and fell on her. She was wearing an Ipod and never heard it break. When the police arrived all you could hear was the Ipod. The branch was the size of a tree trunk. There's a lot of old timber down there, just be aware of your surroundings when you go back. Wouldn't want to see anything happen to ya. If you ever want me to show ya around let me know. There's one place that students live in a canvas house that they built in a tree. That's been there for as long as I can remember too. over 200 miles of trails in that park, and again, GREAT shots!!

I saw the below statue, not sure about an Indian, i did see the spot of the first baptism, as well as a ditched suzuki frame. The park is very large! Wow thats a crazy story, my buddies and I did not have any ipods on, but plenty of people did, duly noted though. I tried finding a trail map for the park but i didn't find much that was useful. But next time i know i'll be heading there i'll try to hit you up before and maybe see if you are around.

Sure let me know.. The Indian is at the bottom of Bells Mill Rd. He's on the other side of the creek up in the woods. He's on one knee with his hand over his eyebrows shading his eyes from the sun as he overlooks the valley. I'll see if i can locate a map for ya..

Both of the shots with the leaves on the ground are awesome, and I feel like the last one of the stairs with the sun flare would've worked out better without the guy walking up them.

you are probably right about not having my buddy in that last shot. i should have waited but i didn't want to have to run to catch up to them, by that time i was so beat i could barely get up those stairs myself.

Thanks for the comments.

Nice pics! I used to mountain bike there every Saturday a few years ago. My brother is there pretty much every Saturday still.
One of the guy who builds/clears the trails walks around with a chain saw in a messenger bag. It's funny to see.
