I just finished installing a set of 3g revised lifters from itm that I got off ebay for $60.00. My question was anyone here install a set and low long after priming did the ticking go away?

I want to do this to my car and i have been reading up on it. People say if they are not primmed it could take 20 min, but since you primmed them it should go away in about 5 to 10 min.

Nice I was wondering which method did you use to change them the pop the rocker arm off or the one that you have to take the cams off?

I loosen the cam cap bolts just a little and used a prybar to pop the rockers off. The install is easy once you bleed the new lifters down the rockers just slide right in.

If your going to run 3G HLA's I would invest in a Kiggly HLA Pressure regulator. Basically It limits the oil pressure to the HLA's to a constant 15psi thus allowing you to run higher rpm's without experiancing valve. It also is a big plus for the bottom end. It aids in diverting more oil to the bearings. If the car is a daily driver with not much upgraded you can get away with just running the 3G's and a JDM HLA Pressure reg. But if this is a street/strip or straight up drag car I would definately get an aftermarket HLA regulator. Kiggly and Magnus both offer one. They go for roughly $150
Jake M. owner of the Evil Eagle has stated before that he picked up 4-5mph through the traps by switching back to 1G lifters. For drag racing applications the 1G lifters are suggested. The oil passage is quite a bit larger on 3G lifters compared to the 1G OEM lifters. This might be a good thing on a mostly stock DD DSM. However not a good thing in a drag car running high rpm for 9-10 seconds at a time. Especially if your running an aggressive type camshaft.Sorry if this seems a little scattered. I've had a whole pot of coffee this morning!

My 3000GT had terrible lifter tick with the original 1mm lifters. After installing the 3mm (3g) lifters, the ticking went away in about a day or so. I haven't heard a tick since.

I hate quoting from other sites. Read up on it at either DSMTalk or Tuners. I believe he posted about it on both. If you can't find it I'll elaborate.

For most the 3G's will work fine. However in a drag race application the 1G's yielded better results. Also, the 6G72 found in the VR-4 is quite different than the high revving 4 cylinder 4G63.
The biggest issue associated with the DSM lifters are centered around loss of contact between the rocker arm and lifter at high rpm when using high lift camshafts.
Lifter tick is basically when the lifter encounters the "pump up" effect. Thus not allowing for the lifter to function. What you hear ticking is the rocker arms losing and gaining contact with the lifters.
