gti motor swaped to metro

yea my buddy is looking to do a 1.8t motor swap into his chevy metro. i guess hes seen it done already......anyone have any info on it???

I've never heard of it. You really think its been done before? Doesn't seem worth it to me either but i'm all for a unique sleeper project.

i dont know, the way he was talking, it sounds like its been done lol. but id go for something with a bit more power while im it ya know? maybe theres a better chance a cobalt motor would fit. since its chevy. and hes all about domestics. his last mustang was sick!!!!

what year metro? cause the 89-94 have a small engine bay. i've seen honda motors in swifts (same year and body) done before. teamswift.net has a few thread with motor swaps and plenty of good info. im jcr557 on there as well if your friend needs any help

Why a 1.8T? It seems to me if you were going to do that much work, then there are plenty of other, more capable, motors out there. There are even more capable VW motors out there. New('99 and up) VW motors seem hard to swap because of all the electronics. Even swapping them between other VW's gets into more than most people want to deal with.If he wants to do a VW motor swap, I'd advise him to at least look into an older 16v GTI motor. They are way easier, there is a lot less electronics, and there is plenty of aftermarket support for that engine. Plus, if built right, it can be a beast.

I also heard there was a metro that used to race down at the blvd with a 4g63 in it. Might be something worth looking into.
