It will be gay with a lowered suspension. Get some 17s with a nice 45 profile and you will have a solid mix of looks, comfort, and preformace. If you went 18s with a 35 profile you will just bend your rims in a pothole and feel every stone on the road(especially with a small car to begin with), assuming you can even fit without rolling your fenders.

I like it better with the 18", IMO it looks better. But this is coming from guy that has a slammed car on 18".

with the right offset and stance, 18s would look fine. that just my opinion

Not a fan of 18's on the R53, personally. Or any Mini for that matter.
I prefer 16's, 17's are fine, but I feel that 18's are too big, IMO.

Im slightly biased but, Smaller and wider serves a purpose. Bigger just looks like wagon wheels, and we all know how that goes. Wagon wheel falls off, lose 2 days on the Oregon Trail.

If it were me driving it everyday I would probably roll on some 16's, 17's tops!
