Solar Impact 08-22-2009... is this FOR REAL!??!?!?

FOUND THIS on some forum... some insider who works for NASA is leaking this out supposedly.

"Solar Impact 08-22-2009

Primary Basics

The Sun, our Sun, will be hit by a long since dead dwarf star. It has been named Hellion-1957. It was discovered December 22nd 1956.

Recapitulation of Detailed Information

Hellion's approach will be from the south. Hellion is travelling varitably fast at 87.33 km/sec. This translates to 195,357.21 MPH. Hellion is classified as one of the fastest moving objects of it's class.

Coordinates and Viewing Principles
RA 13.390911?
Dec -77.436111?
Velocity 87.33 km/sec
Density 174 gm/cm^3
Magnitude 11
Equatorial Radius 957.77km
Solid spherical shape

Projected outcome
The object will penetrate the sun and exit through the other side very similar to a bullet through a watermelon. The Suns core processes will not be destroyed. However, we expect a severe disturbance in the 11 year solar cycle.

Sun debris will be ejected into various orbits. It is calculated Earth has a 7.87% chance of hit/near miss of at least one piece of still burning ejecta.

The rogue dwarf Hellion will continue to exit the solar system at a reduced speed. We expect some of the suns ejecta to get caught in the tremendously strong magnetic field of Hellion.

We are now sure this is one of many processes that is responsible for the production of planets orbiting a sun. That being said, there is a slight chance of a new planet forming though, the process will involve thousands of years."

If a star was heading into the solar system from the south pole the effects of its gravity would have been felt already on the tides, orbits, and we could, you know, SEE IT!

After looking alot up there is no helion-1957 in any of my star books or the software for my telescope. Our own sun is a dwarf star so being hit by another one would completely destroy it. As for the coordinates RA is not given in degrees, it is in hours. All of the orbital elements are missing. A position is given, but since this is a moving object, they are useless without an epoch, inclination, eccentricity, etc. did some more digging they are talking about this http://skyview.gsfc.nasa.gov/cgi-bin...RAS+100+micron looks like a evil smiley face kind of cool

haha dwarf star. our sun is one of the smallest stars in the known galaxy. And like conflict said, it's presence should have already have had an affect on our planet. a white dwarf is the remains of a burnt out star so it's extremely dense.

the internet is serious business.

The sun isn't a dwarf star. It's actually pretty big compared to our nearest stars. I remember reading in 7th grade that it has pretty high classification. It's the perfect star for energy output and sustainment. It doesn't burn fuel too fast and isn't too hot. Our solar system could have been a dual star system had it not been for Jupiter failing at becoming a star.

It's a G2V class star its actually really small compared to other star's. You are right in stating it's not a actual "dwarf" star that's actually at the end of it's life cycle.

It's small compared to stars in the galaxy, but galactic distances are too much to even be exploring in 300 years. I am saying, in our Arm of the galaxy and even in the local "neighborhood" of if I remember right 5-15 lightyears, it's not the smallest star. I think it's a Class 2 star out of something like 5 or 6 classes?(correct me if I'm wrong) but in our neighborhood it's 5th or 4th biggest. Sure, stars like Vega are ginormous compared to a yellow star(the Sun), but we will never get that far in the galaxy, let alone other galaxies, if politics and bureaucracy stay true for the next 100 or 200 years. Look at how long it took to colonize the new world between Cristobal Colon officially "discovering" the new world and the first British colony.

until they show you how dominating that giant star is compared to our sun. I can't even comprehend how big that is. like a drop of water compared to an olyimpic sized pool
