argh another rx7 with electrical issue

ok well
i have a 88 vert
stock aside from a electric fan and a ford Taurus alternator.
oh and i relocated the battery behind the driver seat cubby.
now i have put 3 new batteries in. but i have the same issue.
first one was a parasitic loss which ill fix soon.
but my thing is that i jump start the car leave it running for a good 30 mins
and then turn off the car and immediatly try to turn it back on and
i have a dead battery again.
i thought it was the alternator but it cant be because the car stays on even when you rump on it. the alternator alone couldnt power the whole car.

please help me

you have the alternator wired incorrectly, and its either not charging the battery or overcharging it. I dont know the wiring for the ford taurus alternator, but I know people who wire the S5 or FD alternator incorrectly have some major battery drain issues. Have you noticed any fuses blowing? Any wires (especially the battery cables themselves, or the charging cable from the alternator) getting very hot? Did you install a circuit breaker right on the battery, before the wires you ran to relocate it?

What year taurus is the alternator from? Do you have an FSM or wiring diagram of the car it came out of?

The alternator can power the whole car alone, altho the battery serves as a giant buffer to smooth out the alternator's output when everythings working correctly.

time for an ls1 ;)
funny how all three of us have 88 verts how interesting..lol

no really sounds like you have it wired wrong. i had mine wired with an FD altenator and i had the same issue. i went over each wire and i noticed i did something wrong. its been so long i don't remember what i did. but that sounds like the same issue i had with my FD altenator

sorry i havent been active
i hurt my back at work so i havent been able to work on the car
its from a 3rd gen ford. so from 96-99

i think i have to wire one of the wires directly to the charging wire. and then re check the other two wires and we will see
i hope i didnt blow my battery.

oh and i had it hook up wrong.
when i relocated the battery i had a big ass voltage drop because i put a fuse at the end of the wire.and then connected everything to that . so it was like this

battery------------------------------------------fuse block =====100 amp fuse and a 80 amp fuse===all the **** that connects there.
what im getting ready to do is

battery-------circuit breaker-------------------------------------distrubution block-------------all the acc wires

i hope this makes sense

damn u cant resist bushing the v8 over to the rex's even if it has nothing to do with a motor. u see it as any problems put a v8 in it.. driftingrx5.7 im going to take a visit n clean u out of all ur ls crapp n leave just a rotor in its spot if i see another one of these from ya ..

pull that alt out and get one from a tempo or taurus from the 88 model.. or just not go the cheap way and send your stock alternator in and have it amped up to 127 amper then you wont have to worry about all the mess your just going to add to the system and retain the stock look at a cheap cost of $88. on the average

fc.

anger much? I'd never swap in an LT-1, but the aluminum-block LS motors arent much heavier than turbo rotaries, are pretty damn compact for a V8, and dont shift the weight forward much. On the plus side, not only are you dealing with more than twice the swept volume and therefore the potential for much more power, but with the gearing of some of the T56's they'll get better fuel economy on the highway as well. Makes the swap hard to argue against from a performance/practicality standpoint...
