This should be a factory option....

It would help a lot of SUV drivers parallel park. That way my bumpers and lights won't get messed up when they park by feel.

One problem I see with this is if you get your positioning wrong on a SUV, when you lower it back down, it might come down with the back bumper on top of a car. People just have to learn to drive, I've never really seen anyone that live inside a city having trouble parallel parking.

Truth, I parallel park my Sierra, which is an extended cab, 8ft. bed, 2wd outside my apt all the time. Keep in mind that this truck takes up every inch of the spot, the front and rear bumpers are right past the white lines. It takes me a minute to get it perfect, but I've never hit another car.

Learn how to drive the car you choose. I can't parallel park anything bigger then my focus, but I don't have to, I never need to parallel park.
My aunt on the other hand, lived in the northeast and could shoe horn her 12 passenger dodge van in to a spot I would never fit the focus in to.

And sometimes you just need to accept the fact you don't have enough room to park there, but that's common sense (thrown out the window long ago).

I've parked my BMW in a pretty tight spot in downtown Philly, only took me one try.

Can't remember a time where I actually had to parallel park.
