I would like to have an "Ask The Law" forum where members can ask questions on various laws and get definite real answers from local police officers. I have seen this work very well on another forum and think it would be a great addition to this forum. I have tried in the past to find an officer willing to cooperate and want to help out, but have not had any luck.
I'm looking for a police officer (or officers - one per state even?) who is not only very familliar with state laws, but also hopefully has an interest in cars and will visit the forum at least a couple times a week.
If anyone has someone in mind for this position, please talk to them about it, or send them my way.

You really think the cop idea is good?? With some stuff people say on here, stuff would have to cut back...Like if we say about racing somwhere, or somthing along thoes lines. Then you might be kicking youself in the A**. just my .02

The funny thing is there are already cops on here..... The weird thing is they look just like everyone else on here and act the same and joke around, etc....

I know...it's kind of funny.

But, "they're" not out to get anyone at all.
Also, I agree with the lawyer approach and not police officer simply because a police officer will not necessarily know all the details, whereas a lawyer can offer "free advice" and even try to attract clients.

Hey wil i knwo and you know or atleast i think you know so lets keep the whose a cop stuff to a minimum i don't think the officers on here want others to knwo who they are. Either way i think a lawyer is a better idea you would be surprised how little some cops know.

i've seen teh cop thing work quite well on another very well established forum and think it will work well here. when it comes to basic questions i'm sure your average cop will now a ton more than your average civillian, and if they dont know then hopefully they will be willing to look into it and get back to us with an answer.

and about anyone being scared to post anything up on here... dont be. i'm not looking to have some asshole on the site looking to start trouble. i'm looking for someone who wants to help and wants car guys and police to have a better relationship. beyond that, posting anything illegal on the site is already against the rules for your own safety as well as mine, so nothing would be changing with regards to that anyways.

and by the way, i found someone willing to help. check out the new Ask The Law forum in the community section.

I know someone who is a cop on here . It's not a big deal. They are regular people when they are off duty too.

A cop being an import owner saved me a big ticket one time.

cool cops for the win. granted if doing something absolutely stupid then a ticket is expected.

I've bumped into several NJ state troopers who were very friendly and very professional.

I welcome the idea of inviting an officer of the law on this forum, it'd be helpful answering many of our questions rather then having us guess.

Plenty of cops are huge into cars. It's tough to find one who is cool *and* into cars.
