WkDerF should appreciate this one... lol

So thanks to a previous WTB thread, I purchased a very nice Air/BB rifle from a fellow TST member. Fantastic deal, and he even delivered it to me. Thanks Fred!

So I get home today to play with it, dialing in the scope, learning how to load and shoot...and finally setting up some mock targets.

First target I setup was Bic Lighter on my dining room table. From about 20' away, wouldn't you know I banging the thing on the first shot. KNocked it off the table... go to pick it up, the bb penetrated the lighter body!!! Considering I use these lighters to open beer bottles, I know they are strong, and I was very surprised...

But much like Ralphie, I didn't learn my lesson and stop there. I take a manila bubble-wrap mailing pouch and set it up as a target... in front of my dining room window. Fire. Hear a tinging sound. Approach target and see a crack in my window (which I installed when I moved in, 3 years ago). There is now a bullet hole in the first pane of glass. Thankfully, its double-pane so no air is leaking in. And, the sliding panel just pops out of the track and can be replaced individually, so I don't need to pull the trim and frame and spend a whole weekend to repair.

Right after I did it, I could hear little elves dancing around in my head singing "You shot your window out, You shot your window out..."

I think I subconsciously do stupid things every so often, just to keep myself humble and grounded. And believe me, I haven't felt like such a dumb jackass in a long time.. :D

haha. good one Jordan. For some unexplainable reason, it actually makes me feel good to know that people think I am a jackass... especially cuz I don't care what people think.

I'll be the first to admit, my unbridled unthusiasm probably temporarily clouded my judgement... but honestly, I just completely under-estimated the potential of this thing. I'm no slack-jawed yokel, staring into the barrel of a gun while cleaning it, I just didn't realize the power of the thing. And I was so excited to try it out, that I threw caution to the wind...

unfortunately, here in Upper Darby, we don't have sprawling green backyards to roam around in and practice shooting, like you do in upscale Chester County...

But the bright side now, is that I have a fun tool to use against the snakes that inhabit my family's shore house in Maryland... I've been hunting these f'ers for years now, but they always get away.... now the tables have turned.

As long as I can snipe them in the head, they won't be getting away anytime soon.

Snakes?.... I hate snakes!

Doug - lol. I'm working on that script now. You forgot to +herbal refreshments...

Abrok - the lighter was empty.

WkDerF - all I can say is WOW, that thing is serious. haha. I think I learned my lesson. And soon enough, the snakes will be learning theirs as well. I'm reconsidering sniping the birds on my phone lines though... that might be a bad call.
