Timing Belt on a VW 1.8T AWP

My 2002 GTI 1.8T is at 70k miles right now... I'd like to have the timing belt done asap. I checked with the dealer and they want $995. Anyone willing to do this cheaper? I will buy the parts (ECS timing belt kit). Please PM...

you can probaly get it done at a regular shop for 500ish if you provide the parts. im assuming the 995 at the dealer including parts.

just curious why 70k, isnt it recommended at 90k? make sure you do the water pump while your at it.

dealer told me 80 - 100k miles. I like to get things out of the way and not have to worry about it i guess... Also I've read on vortex that some people had their belt break around 70k...
