Anyone drop their phone in water?
Anyone have any luck after submerging their phones in water? I put it in rice and it's sitting outside airing out, i'm hoping this thing will still work.

never heard of the rice thing. i just let my phones air out for like, a good few days. no moisture at all or the things toast. although i had a nextel phone get submerged three seperate times, never even turned off. worked fine. until i flipped it open and broke the screen off. damn indestructables.

at work we have a pretty high success rate of reviving wet phones in a 176 degree F oven for about an hour, however we remove the batteries beforehand

I've set my previous phone in a little puddle of water, charger side down. I realized it when it was to late that there was water in there, took it out, and it said it was charging, when there clearly was no charger hooked up to it.

Remove whatever covers, batteries, whatever, that you can and blow it out, then let it air dry. I have more experience in this field than I really want to admit.

Bucket of rice, let sit in sun for a week with no battery or SIM, buy a new battery on amazon.com. I've dropped my blackberry in the pool twice and it works both times.

You can take apart an iPhone and have the sim battery put in less than 30 mins if you take your time. Just don't use it for a week. Anything you can do to dry out everything (like taking it apart) will improve your chances.

electronics can get wet, as long as they do not function while they are wet they should be fine. just make sure you do what most people have already said and wait a couple days before turning it on.

Dropped my instint in a cup of water before, took it apart, put it in a box of rice, under a head lamp for about a day, took my time, put it back together and it works great!

I dropped my old mogul in a puddle.
Killed the top slide section. None of the buttons would work and neither would the touch screen. Took it apart, cleaned up some corrosion from a bunch of contacts using QDEC and a tiny wire brush, aired it out, sprayed it all down with more QDEC, checked for more problems, and rebuilt it. Touchscreen works flawless, but the top slide buttons still don't work and the LED's are funkdefied. It might have a constant power drain too, but I just went and bough another one off of ebay for 50 bucks and kept that one on the side. It still worked fine. Could text, use the touchscreen, etc etc. Just that the hotkeys on the front face don't work.
