So I finally break down and buy a gun and get her home and.......

I've been really bored lately and leave for my trip to Central America Tuesday at 2am so I decided to go and kill some time at the local gun shop. Pretty much to get away from packing and studying my med books.

I was just there shooting the **** with the owner looking at the crates of brand new Nagants and SKS's fresh from the warehouses of the Soviet Union. Then he pulls out a pair of pistols still wrapped in packing cloth. Apparently he hadnt expected to get any pistols with this order so they were a freebie to him.

Long story short, I brought home a 1967 police edition Chezch made CZ-70. .32/8 round clip/ semi-auto/ cloned from the walther PPK. Out the door in 10 minutes for $160.

I run over to wal-mart, pick up a box of .32 ACP rounds and race home to pop off some rounds. Click, click, click. SOB. Take the gun back and apparently the two pistols were sent with no firing pins lol. So now I have to wait until August when I get home to use my new gun : (

Well he has one CZ-70 left but said he would be charging $200 for it because now he has to track down pins lol.

And about 25 Nagant revolvers dated from 1944 which were german police issue for $130 out the door.

I went to the court house before work to see about getting a permit to carry. $35 and a background check is all it takes to get a permit to conceal a weapon in Lehigh County, sweet!

If you are new to gun ownership, I would highly recommend joining the discussions at PAFOA.org (as was mentioned above). There's an endless amount of knowledge and experience. With owning a gun comes a lot of responsibility, let alone carrying one.

I've taken a few gun safety courses when I was younger and have seen first hand what they can do at the hospital. I just want to get my actual hands on with them at the range. Gun shop called me today, they wanted me to come pick the gun up because they dont feel comfortable sitting on the gun until August. They told me they would just order me the firing pin and put it in for free when I fly back in.

One more pic. KGB stylez.

theres really not a huge difference.

that permit gives you rights to conceal it, in fact you want to conceal it to keep it a low profile.

you can open carry it anywhere in pa though, except philly. in philly it needs to be concealed.

if its in your car, in plain sight, its still considered concealed so make sure you have your permit with you when u take it in your car loaded.

you cant carry it in any federal buildings or place.

court houses
post office
not sure about public schools or libraries.
museums that are federal like the franklin mint, consititution center, the liberty bell place, indepence hall, etc etc.
im pretty sure you can carry it in national parks and state parks now, but dont quote me on that.

there actually is a big difference between LTCF and CCW permit. the guys on PAFOA stress that a lot. It has everything to do with the fact that other states that call it a Carry Concealed Weapons permit have certain rules and requirements that are much different than PA's LTCF, so to avoid confusion and reinforce the idea that PA's laws are different (in a good way) than other states, people make a big deal about the definition. I only mentioned it because the OP's just getting into carrying and he might as well get started right. PA has a LTCF, not CCW... and if you say anything other than LTCF to someone 'in the know', they'll scold ya for it. lol. It's just semantics, nothing more.

Quote:

this is completely a matter of opinion. i happen to agree with you on it. i have nothing against open carry but i'd rather conceal. people who advocate Open Carry have a very strong and valid argument that OC is the better way to carry and gets more accomplished. personal preference all the way.

Quote:

this is incorrect. philly is a city of the first class, but this changes nothing about PA's gun laws except for the fact that people who choose to open carry need to have a License To Carry Firearms (where the semantics come into play) whereas in the rest of the commonwealth, you can open carry with no license at all while on foot.

really dont wanna start an argument, but do not open carry in philly. for your sake and the sake of others, its just a bad idea.

This is incorrect. You can OC/CC legally in philly. The only difference is you need to have an LTCF to do either.
