Sick WRX drag race launch

http://www.teamice.is/skrar/Media/20..._143_miles.mpg

I though this was pretty bad ass. It sounds like he chirps the tires shifting into 5th gear.

That is how my car use to launch too! Wgnestrick mentioned that it might have something to do with my alignment. I'm not too sure that is it considering sometimes my car is actually nicely aligned and I've seen it happen on other cars. Still I'll try getting it aligned again with more toe-in, front and rear and less camber in the rear. Or should I add more camber in the rear. Ultimately, I think it will just come down to stickier, driveline breaking tires and or a kindler more gentle launch technique, lol.

And high powered DSMs can chirp going into 4th as well... when the center diff, transfer case or a half shaft breaks after a hard launch, lol.

That is a sick launch, wish I had that much power. That's also a really cool exhaust, kinda what my car sounds like with an open downpipe.

For drag racing you want the tires as flat as can be, so as close to zero camber as you can get. This will degrade cornering grip though, but that's the sacrifice you make. More toe-in in the front will make the steering quicker to respond, but will reduce overall front end grip when cornering. More toe-in in the rear will make the car more stable, but will again make it slower in the corners because the rear won't want to come around. Also if you add too much toe-in, front or rear, you'll increase the rolling resistance of the car and slow you down that way.

2point4DSM,

This is just about what I told you to check out to improve your launches. Alignments for handling =/ ones for drag racing. You want 0s in all alignment stats for drag racing. Use the drag racing portion of GT3/4 to verify this.

This car is a 2.0L out of England and was featured in EVO mag about 2 months ago. This is the first vid I've seen of it. It also runs the prodrive WRC intake manifold which tells you what kind of money is behind it. You just don't get those on favors. For all I know, it could be running a WRC 2.0l. Any way, it is fast, very fast.

I use to work with a Honda tech that was also the head mechanic for a small race team and he said that a little toe-in is actually good cause it helps stablize the car for straight line performance but also cause bushings and stuff get tweaked enough the toe is actually pulled out when accelerating hard.

Just what I heard... don't know if it is true. But I use to do alignments for Sears and a little toe-in usually helped tires wear more even.

Correct me if I'm wrong....

He made a joke of the quarter mile.

I’m sure the Supra was pissed when he saw who he was lining up with.
