Blood Testing
I was speaking with a friend today and he mentioned this girl he'd been hanging out with is on probation because of an underage DUI. Her story was that she had one drink, a guy swerved and hit her, then they (I guess the police?) took her to the hospital and ran a blood test on her and found out she'd been drinking. This got me wondering, what circumstances warrant conducting a blood test in lieu of an accident? Is it only if there is major personal injury involved or what? Usually if an accident is severe enough for a hospital trip they will blood test, if there is a fatality they will always blood test.
