Wanted a resume that stood out from the rest because my old one wasn't doing so...thoughts?
EDIT: NEW LAYOUT ON PAGE 2. Plus a revamped logo.

I like it all but the face thing. I found it very distracting.

If you're going for the whole 'taped-on' look, I don't think you should have shadows underneath your pieces of tape.

Also, the flourishes on the left side look a little distorted, compressed a little too much vertically.

i like them both in different ways. i like the orange from the original one. i think the white BG on the second makes the face part look real awkward. with the orange it looks like it fits. i like how your contact info is at the top of the second one also. while the tape itself looks more realistic on the second one, i would probably try to mess with the paper shadowing a bit. the fact that the drop shadow is the same width all the way until where the tape is holding it down really gives it a strange look. like the tape is in the air as well, but there's no shadowing for it anymore. try skewing the shadow so it looks like the tape is holding the corner on the surface but the other corner is in the air. naaa meen? lol i dunno, it's hard to explain. the normal employer would be blown away by getting a resume like this and not look at the details, but remember who you're submitting it to... people who know graphic design and perspective. overall though, i like it! good job.

something else i just noticed... the tape pieces are identical. try flipping one upside down and rotating it a little bit. maybe make one a little shorter or longer than the other. that will make it a little harder to notice that you used the same image for both.

i think you could do a better job. if you're trying to sell yourself as a designer, i don't think words saying what you've done is the way to do it... how about samples of work instead?

i like the idea, but i'm not sold on this implementation. all in all it looks like a menu for a restaurant or bar. also see how it will print and or print/look in black and white. i think it will have problems.
I would also put some thought behind what you are showing and how it represents yourself. You have a crinkled piece of paper with your work history on it taped down with bright orange tape. to me that doesn't show much care for your work, think about it, you put your resume on a crumpled piece of paper? would you ever submit a crumpled piece of paper as your resume?
I agree with coming up with a creative way to show your work

here are some othercreative resumes to use as research.

I'd also make a little more room for your name and contact info to stand out... thats what you want them to remember.

• I like the orange background.
• Keep an Objective and a better one than "to obtain a creative position in the field of graphic design". All that says is that you want a job haha.
• The face, while neat, doesn't look right. It looks like you used the magic wand to select it and then did a posterized filter in photoshop making it messy not edgy.
• Get rid of the "freelance" after Josh Story Design. You say freelance designer after it. Describe the work better in the description. Logos, etc is too broad and comes off as weak. If you say "a logo for John's Hardware" it will be stronger.
• One idea is—Your logo is a circle. Try playing off of that. Or if you want to keep the slanted paper, maybe try playing off of the gradient you have in your logo.
• Your logo uses a typeface that isn't anywhere on your resume. Use it for your name in the contact info and the headers for consistency.

Hope that helps.
