Damn Neons killing people again

Don't people know by now that neons are slow...lol

FELTONVILLE - June 3, 2009 (WPVI) -- Police say a driver they suspect a driver was illegally racing another car along Roosevelt Boulevard early Wednesday morning, struck and killed a woman then left her to die on the road.

The woman had bought some takeout food with a friend just after midnight, then the two of them started to cross Roosevelt Boulevard at Rising Sun Avenue in Feltonville.
That's when police say the two cars suddenly appeared on the Boulevard, speeding north.
Story continues belowAdvertisementOne car - witnesses say it was a late 1990s model Oldsmobile or Pontiac Bonneville, either gold or silver in color - ran into the woman.
Neither car stopped after the woman was hit. The victim died on the street. Her friend was not injured.
AID is looking for a blue Dodge Neon along with the striking car. Police say the Neon was racing the striking vehicle at the time of the accident. The blue Neon had a white stripe down the hood, roof and trunk.
Both vehicles fled north on the Boulevard. The two suspected racers remain on the loose.
Detectives are interviewing witnesses.
Police shutdown the northbound outer lanes of the Boulevard for more than three hours to search for evidence that would help them catch the suspects.

Yeahhh, this is why I stopped going to the blvd after the first time I brought my boosted car there. Well other than it blowing up LOL.

That's a shame. I hope they find em.

Is that like a known raceboy spot? I'm obviously not familiar with the area.

And if anyone has information regarding these two cars, make sure you contact the appropriate people!

Yeah, mike. The blvd is the biggest spot in/around philly for racing. It's a 4(?) lane highway on each side and it's lonnnnngggg and straight. Roll races like crazy. Even if you're not lookin to race, most of the time someone will want to run if you go down there in a modded car.

yea Mike, the Sunday night meet is fulll of a-holes. It's not too far from my neighborhood so i often get caught up in it if I am driving here or there on Sunday nights. Both cars and bikes blazing from light to light.

HOWEVER........that SUnday night meet spot is a good 15-20 minutes up the Boulevard from where this accident happened. Could it be one of them...sure. But I wouldn't automatically assume it was, just because it did happen on The Boulevard.

Nonetheless, i hope both parties get what's coming to them.

nah, passyunk was a bigger race spot.. and probably safer I would say because no one goes down there (local traffic). no one is there anymore, and no i dont race lol.

I've seen racing all over the blvd. I wasn't trying to stereotype or anything. Just as a general statement, I was just stating what I know the blvd as. Still a shame tho. I didn't know about that spot, Ryan.

Yeah, the dude got what was coming to him. The thing that pisses me off about that molester was it was his second rape offense!

Since I work at the airport I witness alot of stuff behind the airport, place looks like a burnout pit.

It's 12 lanes in most spots....

Curb - 3 Lanes - Division - 3 Lanes - Center Division - 3 Lanes - Division - 3 Lanes - Curb

the biggest kicker....the Boulevard is a "safety corridor", for i believe an 11-12 mile stretch. Where this accident occurred AND where the Sunday night meet spot are, both fall into this "safety corridor"...All signs say fines are doubles in this corridor, but it obviously does not deter people from street racing. I always though that was strange. A normal ticket, points, and the mere safety of others should be enough. If DOUBLING the fines on that road doesn't change anything, what would?
