Any Good Books?

Can anyone suggest some good books?

Today was a long one. Work ran late, but I was able to snatch some killer sunset pictures in the park on the way to the gym. Then I get to the gym and in the middle of my workout they tell me I can't work out in a polo (popped collar), cargo shorts, and sandals. Bull**** if you ask me. I like to rock style wherever I go.

Anyway, I was thinking that the perfect end to this day would be to curl up with A GOOD BOOK. Does anyone have any suggestions? I hear sisterhood of the traveling pants is a good read. Maybe something from Oprah's list?

you sound mad, i'm sorry i didnt invite you sweetheart...
but i'm glad you made this thread because it might be a good place to ask for suggestions on how to most effectively waste my time by e-stalking someone...

Oh and since TST has some literary types... I'm in the middle of Rant by Chuck Palahniuk... really interesting style although it took a few chapters to get up to speed.

Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger... commonly read in HS, but totally good if you haven't read it already.

Definitely good, but you really have to be a reader to make it through the whole series, with how long it is. If you're a 'just one book at a time' kinda person, I doubt you'd make it through. It's also pretty complicated, and you really have to pay attention to what you're reading to connect all the dots throughout the series.

I'm a fan of everything by Stephen King -- his older stuff moreso than his newer releases.

If you're into sci-fi, psychological-ish stuff and military-ish stuff -- the latter of which I'm really not, which makes it odd that I'm enjoying the book -- I'm currently reading 'Ender's Game' by Orson Scott Card.

One book that I read a long time ago that was really striking to me -- maybe cause I was younger at the time -- was 'The Giver' by Lois Lowry. And another good one is 'Watership Down' by Richard Adams.

If your into classics; The Sun Also Rises, Hemingway
If you want politics with a spin; Fear and Loathing on the Campaign Trail '72, Thompson
If you want new age horror/mind****; House of Leaves, Danielewski
If you want some dry humor, with deeper meaning; Hocus Pocus, Vonnegut

There's a few, get to reading.

Yeah, I want to give Vonnegut a shot... some have likened Palahniuk's to his.

what... is this... post... um, ok?

I recently picked up a handful of Charles Darwin's books. I got bored though reading through his journal entries while he was on the Beagle. I'm going to move onto the other books then go back to the journal.
