370Z vs G35 Coupe

So the time has come for me to start thinking about getting a new daily driver. I have it narrowed down to two cars. Just some basics...

2009 370Z is a two seat coupe with 3.7L V6 with 332 bhp and 270 ft-lb of torque. I'd get the sport package which looks like this...

Sport package comes with 19-inch wheels, a limited-slip rear differential, upgraded brakes, front and rear spoilers and the SynchroRev Match feature for manual cars.
All in all, it's going to run right around 35k.

2007 G35 is a coupe with a 3.5L V6 with 275 bhp and 270 ft-lb of torque. It's alittle big for my taste but it does look pretty sexy...

and i can pick up a stock one for right around 28k.

Keep in mind it's going to be a daily. I don't plan on building it up much. So....opinions? What the hell should I buy?

Hmmmm that's a tough choice but it really depends what you want the car for. Just cruising around I'd get the G35, defiantly looks more pimp and high class. If your going to be racing around and shifting threw the gears get the 370Z. I'd personally get the 370Z. Go sit in each and test drive them.

I'm test driving the 370 this week. I really should be getting something practical but that won't happen so it's narrowed to these two lol.

LOL I think either one is probably going to be pretty decent as a daily driver. I just think the 370Z would offer alot more fun but since you already have the MR2 the G35 would probably make sense since its alot classier.

I'm pretty biased, of course, but ..

If this is for a daily driver, I'd go with the G35. Think of it this way. If this is going to be a DD, why spend another 7K for a car that -- in reality -- is really not MASSIVE leaps and bounds ahead of the cheaper one? In today's economy, 7K is a lot of money, and I'd rather have that sitting in the bank.

Also, for a daily driver, I think the G35 would be a lil' more convenient. With the 370Z, there's NO back seat -- granted, the G35 doesn't have a huge one, but at least it's existent if you want to put SOMETHING larger in the car. Not to mention I have no doubt that the G35 will ride more comfortably than the 370Z.

Just my two cents -- but yep, definitely go test drive both!

I've been in G35s and they're so comfortable. I would try to haggle the price on the 370 down to about 30k if possible, but you're right, 7k is a lot of money. Given that I already have two 2 seaters I really should have a backseat as well. But damn that 370Z is sexy lol.

LOL the G37 is leaps ahead of the G35. Not sure if it's worth the 7K though. Honestly why not just get an older G35 and save even more money.

LOL, you're damn right it is. When I was at the dealership to haggle over my car, they had two -- a silver and a yellow -- sitting out front on the lot. Multiple salesmen tried to coax me into test driving one of 'em, and I finally had to shout at them that I REALLY DID NOT WANT TO before they stopped .. Thing is, I really DID want to, but I was afraid I'd wind up considering buying one! And by this point in my life, I'm getting to be enough of an old fart where I'm trying to make choices with my head and not with my OMG-crazy-car hormones. I was out shopping for a DD, and I knew that realistically speaking, the 370Z wasn't the best fit.

Were you planning on going with the automatic or the manual? Please God, say manual -- cause if so, you have the hp numbers wrong on the G35. The manual G35 makes just shy of 300bhp.

Explain what makes you say this. For either the G37 or the 370Z or whatever. Kinda confused as to why you brought up the G37, since that wasn't a car being considered.

The foundation for all models is the G35's standard 3.5-liter DOHC 24-valve V6 engine, producing 275 horsepower on automatic transmission-equipped models and 293 horsepower on the G35 Coupe 6MT.

Thats not the sport package in that picture...thats the NISMO 370Z. The 'sport package' took the place of the Enthusiast model and looks like the base Z only with brakes, bigger wheels and a small lip spoiler in the back.

As far as a DD, I would go for the G...the backseat will come in handy for daily driving activities.
