muscle is back... 2010 muscle cars debate
Most impressed: Least impressed: ![]() ![]() First: Camaro SS ![]() Base Price: $28145 422-hp 6.2-liter LS3 V8 six-speed manual hits 60 mph in 4.9 seconds and runs a 13.4-second quarter-mile at 108 mph while...300-horsepower 3.6-liter V6-equipped Camaro will run from zero to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds regardless of transmission choice Second: Dodge Challenger R/T ![]() Base Price: $30220 370 horsepower and 398 pound-feet. This is accomplished via variable valve timing as well as a higher compression ratio, now 10.5 instead of 9.6. Opting for the Tremec six-speed in place of the five-speed auto on the R/T bumps those numbers further, to 375 and 404 Third: Ford Mustang GT ![]() Base Price: $27995 4.6-liter V8 with 315 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque (335 lb-ft on premium fuel, which is not required). Expect a 0-60-mph sprint in the low 5-second range for the GT model while iv been an import fan for some time now... american power is coming back strong horsepower numbers are not even close between these and comparable sti and evo (both of which are much more expensive). its amazing because most debates say quality of imports is better, but i have personally seen the new camaro and mustang interior and well i think my pants were a bit wet. yes yes interior is not everything, but all three have very reliable powertrains

1.Camaro
2.Mustang 3.Challenger Camaro - too big, but very fast and sweet looking Mustang - Looks so nice in the baby blue color(not shown.) but nice little cowl, and the cheapest. and 0-60 in under 5 sec's is good enough for me. challenger - dad has one, and hes working on getting a camaro next, I really don't like the challenger. But I guess its cool |

Most Impressed: Ford mustang gt... while they kept with the 4.6, there is mumbelings of them using the 5.0 soon (never thought id say i liked a ford). i also really like the looks of this car i always said i hated the last modle mustangs but they needed a little tweak to look great
Least Impressed: Dodge Challenger... while it looks the best to me, the weight and mediocre power numbers hurt it alot in my eyes EDIT::: my bad the mustang is going back to the 5.0 for 2011 using the motor out of the f150... very interesting

camaro-newest and therefore im impressed by it
mustang-noticeble upgrades for this year, but needs more power. and a legit v6 option to compete with comaro challenger- never cared for it from day one. sedan disguised as a coupe, although a cool looking one in srt trim. o and by the way.. you say dont compare to evo/sti but on numbers alone both hang. hell a stock evo 8 would run low 13s from the showroom floor back in 03. these cars might hove 300+from the factory, but clearly its just a number. im sure with basic mods all of them will be much quicker. just a little devils advocate.

as far as for these american muscle cars, i just have to pick the challenger as my favorite amongst the normal versions. Shelby gt500 is my favorite overall.
I get what u mean about this is for "muscle cars", but to not consider the Japanese and european cars too in the lower price ranges is kinda narrow sighted. its the 21st century, and an evo, Z, or sti, is just as much a muscle car as the modern mustang, camaro, and challenger. With regard to their place in pop culture, purpose, and performance. They are just as much equivalent in todays car culture as the old school muscle cars of the 60s-70s, as the american muscle cars of today. just being real. But I know you want to keep this to american muscle cars so carry on. I like them all to be honest, and they all have bige factory performance parts that can push them far past stock and still keep the warranty. good stuff |

I love the new Challenger. It would be perfect with a real Hemi under the hood.

1. Challenger
2. Mustang 3. Camaro I just never could and still can't get into Camaros. All though I must say that I have a feeling this new look will grow on me real fast when I see it in person. I love the aggressive lines of the pics... same with the Challenger. The Mustang is just always a favorite with me because I have always seen what they can become and have been impressed. It's cool that the Domestic market isn't backing down to the Import scene.

yeah im not much of a ford fan lol always been into gm though i just really think the new camaro is way to bulky and the back end of it looks like the artist died. if ford had been putting the 5.4 in the mustangs that, in my eyes, would be a hands down winnner. but then again everyone is going to be going nuts for the 5.0
and to the import crowd i understand the arguements and all. it is just great that american manufacturing is sticking to what they know and making (finally after almost a decade) a successful lineup of cars that is different from the pack (big motor low price) same as they did before, and can seemingly be successful from it.

you really can't complain about any of these cars within context. they're all great representations of what drove the american love of automobiles.
I haven't seen a new camaro in person yet, nor have i driven any of the mentioned vehicles... Each has their place though. The new mustang is a "light weight" muscle car that will do well on the track or strip. With a factory warrantied supercharger from Ford Racing (400bhp) you're looking at an awesome performer with the track package. the camaro ss is the new "bang for your buck" winner for me... i built one on chevy's site just under 35k... 400+hp... and i'm sure goodies coming out for them from GM (if they're around long enough to produce the goodies) the challenger... is a beautiful machine... heavy and bulky... just like a classic muscle car. if anything, it remains true to it's roots. But in todays age of vehicles, where we want to be able to stop on a dime and take turns at 60+... its really to fat. I'd take any of them... and with chrysler in meltdown mode and dealerships possibly trying to unload ASAP and switch makers we may see the price of the srt-8 drop to camaro ss and mustang gt areas instead of used gt500 areas |

I'm having a tough time deciding which one i'd prefer... i mean, you could TT the 5.0... or do the usual V8 mods that get big power... though, its probably safe to assume that you could up the boost and fuel on the v6 without much difficulty... but then again, what kind of control will the computer have? not sure which i'd prefer... |

thats alot of ...'s lol.
yeah, its a tough decision. I would imagine TTing the 5.0 while badass would cost a ton at first. I don't know how ford computers works so tuning from their ecu alone idk how well that would work. I would think that tuning the v6 would be more cost effective.. at least at first. is the 5.0 a SOHC again? if so ![]()
