Philadelphia area -- 2.5rs???

My name is Chelseaaa. I'm 20 and I'm a part time photographer. I live right outside northeast. I love simple sexy cars that go fast and sound nice. I'd rather drive an ugly car that's sexy under the hood then the other way around. I say form follows function.

I have a little girl, she's 9 months old.. so I have to combine safety with performance... I don't really mind the challenge.

I drive a supercharged tc.. don't judge me.. it's actually slightly impressive haha.

The supercharger has quite the potential with a new pulley.. it is rated to boost 30psi, which is way off of what I'm capable of doing haha. Buuuut, regardless, all the money in headwork combined with all the other things I'd like to do it.. I realized............. I'd rather just get something cheaper and go all out. It'd probably come out even.

Sooo I'm looking to buy a 2.5rs and do a wrx or sti swap... obviously the wrx swap is more realistic.

So keep an eye out for me and let m know!!!

I love learning about cars, I try to learn as much as I can so I can keep up with all of you boys so if anyone wants to talk cars.... don't be shy!

Welcome, we take all types here. So you Tc is more than interesting to some and might be less interesting than you will be to some. I grew up in the burbs and love to drive and hang out at meets. Come out to your local meet when you get some time.

Whats up - we need more swapped GCs on this website. Hit up ryan (area1320), he'll do the car up right when you get around to it.

agh oh no, dont call me a scion girl! haha

and i plan to do the work myself, renegade
well, with help here and there of course but basically.. a big reason i want to do the swap is so that iiii know my car in and out and i want to say it's all me (or mostly me haha)

i just want to buy the car for now.. get rid of tc and it's lovely payments.. save up the money i'd be wasting on that and do the swap when i'm ready.. after i've read up more and know more. i'm hopefully going to get about $6k soo that's my budget just for the rs. my head hurts when i think of how much money is going to go toward the work haha

ps i got in a huggge fight with someone last night who told me that i'd be wasting my money and that a 2.5rs with a swap was dumb...................... i need some advice haha.

here is my opinion.
the rs, for now, is cheaper to insure and cheap, in general.
then when i'm ready..
first off, it'd be RARE AS SHT, id get bitches in that thing haha
i want to learn on my own, i want something stock that i can build up myself.. i can't take pride in buying someone else's work.. (he says i should buy a done up wrx or sti and ditch the swap idea)
i like the body on the 2.5rs and, from what i hear, it's the lightest....
he says it has lots of problems, but he is literally the only person i've heard that from...
what do you guys think?
is it stupid and pointless and a big waste of money to do a 2.5rs swap?

its not that much, i just wrx swapped my car.....cost a little under 2k if you do all of the work yourself. and thats with mods.

response to above post:

your friend is an idiot, you are correct. A correctly swapped rs will have the same reliability as a wrx. It is more reliable that any aftermarket turbo kit available. and its rarer, do it.

oh welcome.

i joined a tc forum and it was the biggest joke.. not saying EVERYONE who drives a tc is a tool, but most are. haha
i'm really not about like tinting my windows, 19'' wheels that look like mirros, ground effects, big spoilers .. like if something looks stupid and is functional, that is one thing.. but people who do up tCs make them UGLY and don't add any horsepower! what's the point? just buy a matchbox if you want to play with toys haha.
it makes me ashamed, as a tc owner. i'd like to represent by showing them how it's done.. but the car just flat out already cost me a lot. i've seen some done right but.. eh well.. i'm just ranting and talking sht haha. i love my tc but......... its time for bigger and better things!

I think there was a young man at the meet Thursday with a 2.5 rs, pretty clean too, ready for sale. If I could remember his name....His brother just got a white bugeye. Hopefully he will speak up here soon.

your friend is an idiot. We have done dozens of swaps and ALL of them are as reliable if BETTER than factory. The old 98-01 RS have zero issues once the 2.5 is gone.
