yeah i read this yesterday on motorauthority.com its speculation/ certainty but monday will be the official word from GM. and chrysler has until the 30th to prove to congress they are worth a damn or they might not be getting any more of OUR money.

i was never a huge pontiac guy, or even american cars as a whole, but i really do like the G8 and wish pontiac got the chance to become the niche rwd sport brand that lutz recently wanted them to become. so sad.

on the flipside, next year, a 2009 G8 GXP will be goin for like 20 grand! 400hp rwd 5 seater with 5k miles! sign me up!

This is very disappointing. I was figuring a few years down the road a G8 GT/GXP would be my next new car purchase when I need more room.

I was looking forward to a new Firebird, as well as seeing if they could redeem themselves for the last GTO.

The problem with Pontiac's most attractive cars is that they've priced themselves out of reach of the average American who would buy them.

the problem with pontiacs most attractive cars is that they arent nearly as attractive as cars in the same category.

I loved the last GTO. Have you ever driven one? They're a blast too drive.

There's a lot of things wrong with Pontiac/GM that have really annoyed me over the years, but I'm not getting into that.

I really think the G8 is/was full of win, although I haven't driven one yet. I hear the interior is still a little lacking but I'm completely smitten by the rest of the car. lol

I'm hoping with Pontiac's death, GM will revive the RWD Impala or maybe find room in the Chevy lineup for a separate high performance sedan, using the G8 as the starting point. I can't afford a new CTS-V...yet...hopefully! lol

Yeah looking at the number they should cut brands like GMC saturn and Saab. Do we really need 2 versions of GM trucks?

I have...the ls2 drivetrain is great...I think the handling is marginal as well as braking. It's an improvement over the original GTO in every way except...

I'm talking more about the way the car was brought to the US. I look at it and all I see is a rebadged Monaro. I thought it would be a temporary fix while GM designed a real GTO. The ls1's didn't even have hood scoops! I'm obviously a biased classic GTO guy, but the newer GTOs are so plain and average looking. The classic GTOs were never about that.

Why are they getting rid of pontiac and not hummer or saab? No one wants them around. Let hummer die off, and.... well who cares about saab.
