Does the 09 STI exist?

So Ive noticed that my local subie dealer have no new STIs at all. Also at the NY autoshow today there was no STI at the subie exhibit. And then I searched 09 STI on google and nothing legit came up.

Is this a dead year for the STI? like the year 2000 for the mustang SVT Cobra? like a "lets fix our epic **** up" year, God I hope so.

no... they sold all the 08sti models, that's why you wont see it in showrooms. you wont see it at the autoshow because its not a new model. it wont be getting a facelift or anything til next year. You'll probably see the 09's come up more towards the summer around the same time the 08 came out last year. They probably dont want to leak out any info until time comes, sorta like they did with the 09WRXs. the 09wrx's matches the 08STI in acceleration tests as well as cornering, so its obvious that they're going to do something in order to keep the STI as subaru's halo car.. it's just we dont know what.

except for this:

Subaru STi A-Line
Quote:
Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), the maker of Subaru automobiles, today launches “Subaru Impreza WRX A-Line” which is a new addition to the current WRX STI model. The model goes on sale nationwide through Subaru dealerships today in Japan.

Based on the Impreza WRX STI, the WRX STI A-Line model was developed to offer its distinctive driving performance to a wider range of customers by integrating 2.5-litre turbocharged Boxer engine and 5 Speed Automatic Transmission with SPORTSHIFT*.

In addition, the current WRX STI was given some refinements to enhance comfort and quality feel; 8 way power adjustable front seats and a new body color, “Satin White Pearl”, is now available.

The model features the exclusively developed 2.5-litre Subaru BOXER turbo engine with SPORTSHIFT* E-5AT, while retaining the basic component such as chassis and body of the WRX STI, Subaru’s performance flagship.

Engine:

- The unique 2.5-litre BOXER engine comes with a single scroll turbocharger and produces a flat torque from the low and mid-rev range to high-rev range.
- Dual Active Valve Control System (AVCS) was adopted to control continuously valve timing on both intake and exhaust valves, which improves low and mid-range range torque, high-rev range output and environmental friendliness.
- Tumble Generation Valve (TGV) controls the intake air stream to generate high combustion efficiency.

Drive train:

- SI-DRIVE (SUBARU Intelligent Drive), that enables the drivers to choose three different engine mappings, is standard.
- Paddle shift is featured to allow manual shifting without requiring the driver to release the steering wheel.
- Downshifting Blipping Control system was adopted. When down-shifting, the automatic transmission control unit interacts with the engine management system and increases engine revolutions instantly and to the exact required setting.
- Changing gears with the paddle shift can also be done by a temporary operation that does not require the selection lever to be set to the manual position.
- VTD (Variable Torque Distribution)-AWD system was adopted to provide excellent stability of the vehicle, which controls the torque distribution ratio between the front and rear axles depending on driving conditions.
- 17-inches ventilated dual piston disk brakes for the front, and 16-inches ventilated disk brakes for the rear were fitted.
- VDC (Vehicle Dynamics Control) System is standard.

Interior:

- 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat is standard. Leather seats are available as optional and include (front) seat heating. Soft leather door trim with silver stitch is featured.

Major specifications:

-Engine type: Horizontally-Opposed 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve turbocharged engine
-Displacement: 2457 cc
-Maximum output: 221kW (300 PS)/6200 rpm
-Maximum torque: 350 Nm (35.7 kgf·m)/28006000 rpm
-Turbo type: Single Scroll turbocharger

yes... next year they will be offering the STI in automatic and Leather interior. I guess it's to compete with the Evo MR.

thats the worst idea ever... the 5eat better be getting some serious tweaking or people are going to be very very unhappy with this STi.

I'm upset they dropped the wagon....I love my wagon. P.S. That 5-door abomination is NOT a wagon!

Dude, I actually really love how that looks. However, if they did make it, id hope they would change the shape of the wing a bit and that theyd make it a little more aggressive looking. But overall, i cant see how it would hurt them to offer a sedan and a wagon STI. Especially since they no longer race rally officially.

O and.....Auto STi.......ehhh, it had better be ****ing good. Not a Fail like the evo's.

the evo's automatic is actually a dual-clutch manual that shifts via paddle shifters.
the subaru's automatic is just a conventional auto.

I beleive they are using the LGT's 5eat with the paddle shift and revmatching downshift. Imprezas still use the 4eat, and not even the cool sportshift the auto Bajas and older legacies had.

Just pray their new CVT trans doesnt make it into that or any other one for that matter

i see a lot of the older crowd jumping into this car now.. its got leather interior, automatic, moonroof, wagon practicality, still quick, and doesn't looks more mature than the previous gen sti.. its such a perfect middle-age crisis car.

Ok well, i see im not the only one who hates this idea. So Now that subie is turning gay, what cars are u guys gonna get after ur subie? Me im gonna try and save for a Porsche 996 turbo. But if that doesnt happen, I think i'll be getting a 370Z or a Genesis. Seems like the rally cars are losing their edge.
