Is it okay to use the copper spray on gaskets like the one that goes between the oil filter housing and the block, and the oil feed and drain fittings on a turbo? The gaskets I have are just paper OEM ones, and even though I have filter/restrictor in the feed line, I don't want to risk accidental contamination of the turbo.

Advice, suggestions?

I like to use Hi-tack on paper gaskets. It almost acts like a glue between the gasket and the metal.

Yea you can use copper spray there.

i would use hi-tack. copper spray doesnt work as good with oil as the red spray.

Im not sure about a copper spray, but you should NEVER use rtv on those lines.

You really shouldn't need to use anything between the oil filter housing and the block. Even if you're running a different oil pump, the gasket should hold the pressure because you're probably only increasing volume.

I was just reading up on the MR2 boards about a vendor telling people not to do this because it DESTROYS the turbo.

this is true. my first turbo went bad because the people in japan did that to my lines before i got my motor. i was taking apart the turbo and there was rtv pepples in one of the coolant passages.

See, that's what I was afraid of, then a friend told me about the copper spray, so I'm just gathering some oppinions.
