So I have been a pretty hardcore mac person for about 8 years now but today i bought my first pc in 6 years.

I bought a dell mini 9 with ubuntu a 8gh hdd and 512mb of ram.

They are on sale today for 199 as opposed to the normal 249 and i am pretty excited.

If you were looking at one for a while like i was today would be the day to do one since you save 50 it was 219 shipped.

Is that like one of those tiny pc's like the Asus eePC?

Yup, I actually have the Asus eee, not as good as desktop for everyday use but awesome for music, internet, etc while on the go, or shop manual viewing when in the garage.

I've been looking into them for my guys on the field. They're not too expensive and not too bad for all they will need it for. These toughbooks are way too expensive and slooooow.

ubuntu is a great OS. but i've never been a fan of the mini pc's...

Ubuntu has an excellent community. Any problems anyone might have can be answered in their forums.

well... every dell is refurbished...

one of the reasons i refuse to buy from them. Let us know how you like it though. As tempted as i am to pick up a mini laptop, i just don't need one

I prefer to just use my regular laptop. Its an HP DV6000 series. Thing is great for what I use it for.

True. That's one of the ones I have. Decent sound, decent performance, plenty light and I like the blue LED's.

I've had my Eee1000h for a few months now. I LOVE IT. Its great to have a tiny laptop that gets great battery life, and you can take anywhere with you.

Heh 8gb is going to fill up quick!

im pretty sure they use usb flash memory though.. you can probably use the guts of a 16gb flash drive for a new HDD...
