This is what happens when you go to those dirty sites, lol. Probably got a virus.
Hopefully someone can truly help you and not just be a wise-acre, like me.

corrupt driver maybe?
restart in safe mode (keep pressing f8 while it boots up) then reinstall the latest driver... first uninstall what was there..

There are only a couple of things that cause Windows XP to restart like that. If there's actually a physical error with the card, or the computer is overheating, it may shut down. However, the automatic restarts are usually caused by a setting in windows on how to handle system failures. Right-click My Computer, go to Properties, click on the Advanced tab, click Settings under "Startup and Recovery" and make sure "Automatically restart" under System failure is unchecked.
As for the error with the card, I need a little more info to figure out what it could be. Do you know what error it was saying when you checked it, or if it said there was a conflict? When you reinstalled it, did you uninstall/reinstall the device(hardware) or did you simply click on reinstall drivers. Were you listening to anything when it failed?

Sorry my computer wouldnt even stay on. Wil, you are right, i have been on gangbanglessons alot lately
![]() It is definitely a corrupt driver issue because i uninstalled it and then the computer detects it automatically as new hardware but when i go to install it, it has the same code it had before i uninstalled it, "code 10...could not start device". The computer shuts off when i try to play a windows media player file or even sometimes when i try to access a website (this is all ever since i lost sound yesterday). I tried unistalling windows media player but it shuts off as soon as i click remove in the remove programs in control panel. (but this has been going on for a lil while) The computer did not fail while i was listening to something...i just went to watch a vid i downloaded and i realized there was no sound. Restarted it and still nothing. SO i went to device manager and there is a yellow triangle with exclamation point on the "Crystal WDM audio codec" and thats what i tried unistalling and reinstalling but no fix. Also, my system restore works up until it tries to restore and then it restarts and says windows could not restore to an earlier time. I just unchecked the "restart automatically under system failure". Oh yeah i evrytime the computer shuts off, it has that blue screen with a bunch of stuff writen on it but i have no time to read it since it shuts off. Hopefully this will prevent it from shutting off and i can read what it says. Thanx alot for the help Happy Thanksgiving T Last edited by olmytsi; 11-24-2005 at 01:32 PM. |
