Grinding gears.......

I have a 92 tsi awd juts got it not to long ago. When I go into 1st it grinds very bad...sometimes it doesnt grind but then it will just pit it back out when i let off the clutch. Supposably a new act 2600 clutch was put it right before i got the car. I was told after the clutch was put it thats when it started to do that. Sometimes it will also go into gear with no problem but that is rare at this point......Looking for advice and ideas of what this could be. He said he has never had a problem with the trans at all. Will grind in reverse at times as well.....please help

That's definately where I'd start. Flush it and refill it with Redline oils.

I would be more concerned with the potential damage vs. the noise. lol But I know what you mean.

Its probably a good idea but its more than likely
not the problem.

He said it happened after the clutch install. Biggest thing people over look is the pedal adjustment. Biggest tranny killer ever.

Its probably especially noticeable when its cold, right?

Typically constant grinds are mechanical issues and not fluid, but you never know. Check to see if the clutch is full depressing.

He said they weren't constant. Also you leaned towards it being worse when its cold. If that's the case it would more than likely be fluid.

I'd bet its that pedal and also a flush of the clutch system and go with motul. God knows how boiled/gross that fluid is.

I agree but changing the fluid would give you an idea of how much damage is being done by seeing how much crap is in there. That's a great point about the clutch.

Bleed the clutch out and refill with a quality fluid...then make sure the pedal is adjusted properly...then flush and refill the tranny with quality fluid.
