I am obviously not driving this in the snow, but i was wondering. when do you guys install summer tires around philly area? i know this is a bad idea but how bad would summer tires be in 30F weather... |

Depends on the long term forecast......usually end of April the snows come off.

the general rule of thumb or guideline is to do the tire / wheel swap around thanksgiving in the fall & easter in the spring.

I just reinstalled my Dunlop Z1's yesterday at work. OH MY GOD, I missed these tires. Of course, it was nearly 70 degrees yesterday. I don't daily drive my Evo, so if it snows or drops into the 30's, I just won't drive it :D
I don't think you'll have any issues with your Bridgestones putting them back one. 30 degrees isn't going to kill you. If you MUST drive in colder temps, just be careful. Just don't drive if it snows again. |

Yeah, in the snow, it's a different story. Way back in the day when Yokohama made the Parada Spec 2's, I had yet to take them off for winter. I was at a buddies house and is started to snow. No more than an inch of snow and I slid into a curb on the way home. There's is nothing you can do when you're on summer tires in the snow, hahaha.

I didn't have time to find wheels and tires this winter, so I was driving around on Potenza RE750s all winter. Fun stuff. I was out last Monday in the snow drifting around.
Next year, they'll be going on around the start of April, like everyone else who's sane. |

Me too, AWD helps a little.
30F is fine, unless you go speedracering around you dont have much to worry about. I ran RE070s all year a couple of years ago. Snow sucked, and those weird humid-cold days sucked. I ended up on the other side of rt1 one night. But really, know when to take it easy and you'll be good.
