call your car ins. co. and save $$

i gave my car insurance company a call today to ask for my policy details cuz i wanted to reduce my monthly bills and shop around for quotes. the girl helped me with that and asked if i would like to speak with customer service rep before i started shopping around. talked to the guy and my policy went from 175 to 93 per month. nothing changed on the policy. it was left exactly the same. i have progressive. i didnt even bother shopping around but i was told to check out gieco and usaa cuz they are supposed to have the best rates for PA

I've heard of this before. Heard of people doing it for cable rates also for the package channels.

I should call my insurance and see if they can help me out.

if you've been with them for a while or are a good paying loyal customer, you can usually do this with most things because at that point you are a solid income for them.

Threatening to shop around is bad for them.

I saved like $400 a year just by going to my agent and having them rewrite my policy. I've been with them for 4 years, turned 25, and havent had to claim anything. This was after the $500 discount for turning 25.

yes basically thats what happened. the guy said let me look over your policy and see what we can do. he said i got a cheaper rate becasue he started a new policy which sometimes gives you a better quote, and also becasue i am paperless( i was paperless before, dont know why i wasnt getting the discount in the 1st place), and a discount for a college degree. and that was it. im a lil pissed i wasnt given these discounts automatically.

This will work with some companies but not all. Some companies can't/won't lower prices. But it's definately worth a try regardless!

its called retention almost all companys do it from cable telephone to insurance, there is no need to loose you as a customer if they can still make a profit on you by dropping your rates and at the same time make you happy, it costs more to acquire new customers in marketing advertising then to keep existing

I completely agree, but the key words are "almost all". The auto insurance company I work doesn't do it.

comcast, verizon, att, tmobile any of the phone/internet/tv, alot of the insurance companies as well with the tv/data/tv companies the only way your not going to get a discount by threatening to leave is if you are already getting them
