the new and improved PANDA=]
me and a few people decided to swap my turbo at 12AM.. we also changed my intake and put in a 2g maf. it took about 3 hours and it all was perfect untill we started the car.. we crossed two of the wrong wires in the maf and it caused my engine light to go on.. we drove to the diner at 4 in the morning after we rewired it about 3 times and when i turned the car off when we got there my car was pissing out coolant like crazy.. obviously it was because the tubes werent put back on tight enough so that was a easy fix. today day my engine light came back on and i hooked up up to alexs (blackvr4) palm pilot nd it said it was the temperature sensor so we had to rewire it AGAIN.. it was running fine then all the sudden today it was breaking up and it feels like the car is just not moving.. we hooked it up the to palm again and its registering at 43 counts of knock normally driving it and not beating on it.. if i floor it the car just doesnt even go anywhere, you hear the turbo spool it just doesnt move=[ we are in the process of figuring it out.. we are going to replace the knock sensor .. if anyone has any idea of what else it could be feel free to tell me. here are some pics of the adventure haha ![]() the bad turbo ![]() putting it all back together ![]() me and nick ! ![]() good 16g ![]() alex giving me the finger underneath of my car haha ![]() please god, bless this DSM =] ![]() me holding the turbo ![]() after all my disspointment of my car, this sticker was on the stall of the bathroom at the diner. hahahahaha what a coinsidence=] Last edited by pandabeartsi; 05-11-2009 at 09:44 AM. |

damn. you're hot AND you work on cars!
you should have taken that sticker and put it on your car. i'm gonna have to find one for my window cause my engine is definately a needle in a haystack. overheated 3 or 4 times and ran out of oil once (turbo drain line split apart) and still has 210 compression when warmed up on all 6 cylinders was it overheated at all when the coolant was coming out? i'm going to assume that even though you are a girl that you know what can happen when its overheated ![]() ALSO when my car was doing the same thing, it turns out i had a pretty bad crack in the elbow after the VAF (it would be the MAF for you) and it was letting in un-metered air as well as blowing it out under boost. check if it leaks anywhere. my friend mike just put his built 4G into his 2G and it turns out his throttlebody was slightly warped and wouldn't seat tightly against the manifold. that was also with a magnus IM too so who knows. never overlook the obvious! you are not blonde don't act like one ![]()

Usually if you mess with the MAF (for me its an AFM lol.... so many different ones) it'll **** your day up. Hopefully you don't need a new one!

Sounds like your having the same problems I just had last night.
I installed the b16g, coolant line cracked and bleed all the coolant out on the way home from PF changs, started to overheat. Had to pull over go to the supermarket get water and a hose from a sink/shower adapter I found in the misc. aisle(just so happened to be 3/8" line) HAHA. and bypass the turbo coolant lines to get it home 3 miles. I was also breaking up, and I found a loose clamp on the coupler on the J-pipe, Stupid T-bolt clamp. So my advise to you is definitely do a boost leak test. And I would get a new MAF. Taking out that honeycomb is more trouble than its worth on a DSM.

VAF MAF MAP AFM why the hell does everything have to be so complicated.
i'd be willing to bet that since you messed with the workings of the MAF that its whats giving you your problem. once again i've never messed with one only a VAF (cone meter type ****) but thats what tells your ECU to dump in more fuel. if you take the stuff out of it it won't be able to get an accurate reading and who knows what the ECU is telling the fuel system. you might even be flooding the engine due to it thinking there is more air passing through and/or not reading properly. have you checked your spark plugs to see what the tips look like?

Unfortunatly with something like that, just because your friends do it, doesn't mean you did it the same ya know? In the process of removing that piece you could have hit/tug on/touched something that caused the MAF to grenade and be no good. But I don't know too much about that whole thing, just what my friends have told me haha. Good luck though. I'm interested to see what the problem is.
Just check EVERYTHING that you moved to make sure something isnt knocked loose. If the car is breaking up (and my assumption of what "breaking up" your talking about is correct) you could have a boost leak like someone else said. Especially if you had to remove the MAF and all. It's probably something simple. You'll figure it out ![]()

Are you very sure that just the lower honeycomb is removed and someone didn't remove all of them. Like some genius that owned my vehicle before I did. The car didn't idle worth a crap. The lower honeycomb will definitely lean it out(The honeycomb creates a vortice it straightens out the air so it can be read by the sensor. If that honeycomb is missing the air cannot be redirected and can't be read, thus the car will read leaner). That combined with a Coolant temp sensor reading wrong(were its trying to richen up the mixture because it thinks its too cold) will also cause a lot of problems.
