I've run Pensoil Syncromesh in mine for over 100k. It's great but I change it often. If you talk to TRE he'll recommend that you use the MR trans fluid in the 5 or 6 speed. I believe Shep recommends Redline
Consensus on EVOM is -Redline MTL -Amsoil MTG -MR Diaqueen -Pensoil/GM Syncomesh -BG II |

I don't have an Evo, but the best stuff for my transmission would be the Redline. Others recommend the Amsoil, and yet others recommend GM Syncromesh.
Every fluid feels different, it's largely opinion on which is best. If you like how it feels now, replace with that same kind of fluid, if you don't, try something else. Just make sure to stay within specs on the type of fluid. I don't know too much about specifics on Evos, but my tranny requires GL-4, which is a bitch to find locally. |

Best stuff I've found so far for the trans has been royal purple 75w-90 full syn.
Tried redline a few years ago. It was a cocktail of 75w-90 and MTL... trans shifted like crap. Only Redline stuff I use is their heavyweight shockproof (pink stuff) in the TC & rear!

I hated the redline cocktail for the trans but I use nothing other then redline heavy shock proof changed every 10k in the t-case and rear..For 5 speed cars the best fluid I have found is NEO synthetic Racing heavy duty, but it will be notchy until it gets up to operating temp.
www.bakerprecision.com sells it, it is not cheap at 20 a qt. but well worth it imho 6 speed cars, Castrol Syntorq 75-85 (factory fill for dodge viper) or the ORIGINAL 75-85 diaqueen (not super-multi) is the way to go..

I've used the redline for the last few flushes, but I feel like the shifting is really notchy, i.e. notchier than from the factory (to the point I put my weighted shift knob back on the car to get a better feel) so I'm going back to OEM when I change out the fluids next time

MTG should only go in the trans, you should use SVG in the t-case and rear.. Definitely mkae the switch next time!

I have been doing some research on different fluids. What reputable shop recommends what. So heres just some info I have come up with.
AMS high mileage trans: 50/50 mix of BG Synchro and Redline Shockproof light AMS fresh trans: 50/50 mix of BG Synchro and Redline Shockproof heavy Shep was also reported to recommend that combination but I haven't seen proof of that. TRE: Against the idea of any shockproof use unless its a race only car. After several trans fluid changes the shockproof stuff will start to block oiling passeges inside the gearshafts. link Recommended Transmission Oils- Team Rip Engineering Differences of some of these fluids can be found at Red Line Oil: Gear Lubricants. After looking this over I intend to run a 50/50 mix of Redline MT-90 and MTL. I have a somewhat fresh transmission, all new bearings a few new gears. I can report back how that works, but I'm really not "hard" on my car so I dont plan to have any issues.

I'm running the mitsu evo MR tranny fluid in my trans and im not doing so well on it. I'm gonna be draining it and putting in a redline MTL / amsoil syncromesh mix next week and see how she runs.

In my DSM i ran straight pennzoil synchromesh, it was ok but sometimes hard to get into 3rd. Now I run 2 qt. of redline mtl and a half a quart of BG synchroshift 2 and it feels great and cleared up the locked out of 3rd issue for me.
